Arranged during the week to Play with a mate this morning.

I use a trolly (dodgy back and probably laziness) so I rung him to confirm what the local winter rules were. Basically you need hedge hog wheels.

Fair enough, I'll get myself up in the loft, find my old carry bag, empty my old bag, take the trolly out my car, put the trolly in the shed, stock up my new bag blah blah blah.

Ironed all my gear and did all the other prep work.

Finally sat Down at about 10 last night.

Up at 6 ready to go, all exited about using my new clubs

Conducted the 4 S's, dressed, quick tab and in the car up the M6

Halfway there I get a text saying its s bit too windy.....

It's only 29 knots!

And it's dry currently (and forecast to stay that way till 1ish)

Honestly.

I feel your pain, been let down many times with lame excuses like that. Besides playing in wind makes golf a whole new challenge which if you just embrace makes it just, if not more enjoyable.

I was suppose to be playing this morning with a few mates.
We decided to cancel yesterday.
I can handle a bit of wind, but it's crazy at the minute.
Blew a tree down onto a friends car in the night(no one hurt).

Wow. You really do take your game seriously .
Joking apart, my partner is a bit like yours. Bloody annoying, especially when they let you down at the last minute.

Tee total is probably a bit ott

I did have two big bottles of Heineken

But I would have murdered the third and forth.....

😄

Pretty blowy but dry so far in North Berwick so hopefully we'll get the 12 hardy souls we need for our winter four balls comp to be a 'counter'. If the rain comes along I'll be singing a different tune!

I find this a bit strange. I have always loved the challenge of playing in strong wind conditions (not combined with heavy rain, however). You have to do so much more thinking about distances and club selection that it becomes a totally different experience. I'm a happy bunny at the moment, particularly as I had a little 0.9 chop on Tuesday and buffered yesterday.

Many years ago I was playing with my mate and a friend he'd bought along who I didn't know. I'd been told he was a bit of a comedian though.
Anyway, it started off really windy and just got worse and worse.
One of the tee off positions was flanked by poplar trees that were bent over nearly horizontal. The wind must have been gusting at around gale force now.
My mate was trying to tee off from the ground but could could hardly keep his balance and the ball kept rolling away.
Just then we heard his mate behind us grunting with his arms around his golf bag trying to lift it. We looked at him in astonishment as carried on and grunted out between his exertions:
"Just ... going ... to .. toss .. this .. into the air, (gasp) to .. see.. which .. way.. the winds blowing"
One of those ridiculously daft things that you had to be there to appreciate. We just cracked up in near hysterics with tears streaming down our faces.

Hey tuggles, me and a pal were at Knott End Thursday, millionaires golf, 12 quid, lovely day, bit of wind, ...Will be windy there today, no chance of reaching green on the second (par 3), even with big stick.:)

Nothing more frustrating than being let down last minute when your excited about a game. I know how you feel. Especially that you'd left the house and on your way!!

Can you not still go up and get a game with someone? (Great course Chorley !! ) I'd just head there, play and then let him know what a decent day it was. I'm 30 minutes south of you and it is windy but the suns out !!!!

I would be annoyed too- not so much being let down, but he must know how long it would take to drive there, and at least let you know before you left the house.

I arranged to meet a group of friends in London last night to go to theatre, having bought all the tickets myself.
One girl dropped out as she was unwell, but instead of texting me to let me know, she just posted a comment on facebook which I didn't see for a couple of hours. The box office took the ticket to try to resell it (unsuccessfully) but maybe they would have had more luck if I had known to give them the ticket a couple of hours earlier - the show was sold out.

very annoying, we met up for a game this morning. No power at the club, its been out since 1am Friday. out of the 6 that turned up 3 of us decided to head out for a few.

though its was a lovely sunny morning its 80mph plus wind and though its was 4 deg, i would imagine it was a minus fig if you factor in the wind chill. we played the 1st all 3 of us had what felt like brain freeze!!!!!

so played back down the 18th and headed home.
