Playing on your own

it was suggested recently (could even have been on here) that the best way to play on your own was to play two balls off the tee (if that's your weak area) but to then play the worst of them.
this can be done anywhere on a hole, always playing two shots at your weakness.

does this make sense?

It makes sense, but it wouldn't make me very happy.

I rarely take 2 off the tee unless I miss a par 3 or something. The first one is nearly always good enough.
I agree if you take more than one ball you should play the worst, but not only the worst.

Welcome at my gaff anytime too. I don't mind playing on my own except for sunny evenings like tonight when you hit it straight into the setting sun and have no idea where it ended it up = lost ball.
Would you not just follow the setting sun until you find it? Better still hit it down the fairway and you won't have to watch it.

I am away at the weekend and aiming to get out and play on friday on my own. Only 9 holes and then I am planning on going out doing 18 holes on monday.

I'm looking forward to it now especially considering I will get to hit a decent amount of shots to practice. Plus because I am such a tight git it will make me feel like I am getting one over on the golf course by hitting two sets of balls. Some would just say I am simple.

Cheers for all the advice.
