Now this is the real harsh one!

All day they were frozen solid. Never hit so many in my life.

Hit them and saw them bounce or roll off nearly every time.

So many shots lost!

Played the Warwickshire kings course for anyone local. I can't recommend enough!

After doing that a couple of times I started putting from anything up to 50 yards away and running in everything from 150 yards with bumped 7 irons.

just another adjustment, with a touch of mental acceptance needed!

partially thawed course is definitely the hardest, one minute it bounces the next it embeds!

It's the one thing that does shut our course. Down here we don't often get frosts that freeze the greens deep enough to allow us on to them. Normally a frost means only about 1 inch of the ground freezes and it snaps the grass off at the roots if we walk on them killing the grass. If it does freeze deeply into the soil I play them the same as in the summer and pitch short letting the ball run up onto the green.

Its not enjoyable when you know you would have played an amazing shot but golf is golf. An beats doing anything else on a weekend. I enjoyed every other part of the round. If anything you know in your head there were a few shots left out there too :-)

Just dont like playing to temporary greens which we were on today. As they are on the fairway, some plug short, some go off at absurd angles and some land properly. An absolute lottery, and I'd rather work on the quality of the swing and play when the course was fully open. You can't putt properly on temps and even chipping is hit or miss. Apart from the exercise and the company I don't see much point

different issue - but I agree completely!

I don't mind it, like others have said its still a game. Also same as others again just try and play a lower shot that runs up rather than the exact distance. Ours was frozen yesterday but would still rather play than go shopping etc.

Loved playing on frozen greens for the past 2 days. Its great trying to play in different conditions and try to engineer different shots as opposed for aiming for the flag in the middle of the green. Also a bonus that we came second in the winter league today in the 3 club challenge off 3/4 handicap. Frozen bunkers are not fun though.

Just have fun, your score is pretty much irrelevant on a day like today, I found myself hitting high flops just for the craic, never got one to stay on a green even tho' I hit several good quality flops.

If that course impressed you, then you better come along to Kenilworth, two miles down the road,I'll sign you in.

surely if the green is actually frozen the greenkeeper should have moved you onto temps?
you have to look after the greens!!

Not all courses use temps. Seems to be split as to whether you play, or don't play, on frozen greens.

Ours are not moved to temps and we don't have any issues.

Yeah this course never appeared to have areas set out for them. I would rather putt on greens that wobbled than temps. Can see why we have to but hate it all the same.

No problem,it's up to you when you want to play, but I'd suggest next spring when you'll enjoy it more. But you're welcome anytime.

Brilliant. Have taken your name so I will definitely come calling mate.
