Playing In Fog

I have this vision of there being bodies all over the course from where you thought you were the first out but really you have taken them all out with your drives!

Come to think of it, there were a lot of abandoned golf bags around - which was odd :D

Our club received a letter from the National Golf Club Advisory Association, which was reissued on our newsletter, to the effect that even if the course is not closed it is dangerous to play in conditions when you cannot know the distance or direction the ball has taken. They concluded ' Players do so at their own risk '
To play casual golf only hitting clubs that will stay within eyesight is barely ok to play competitive golf in foggy conditions is madness.

280 yard par 3 was a killer.. mad par though, driver and SW

If I had to guess either 9 or 15? Nice par either way

Laser was working fine at 125 but didn't look at anything over that. Could see the 14th from the proshop so wasn't bad then but certainly closed in as the day went on.

There was a blanket of fog so thick in Nottingham you wouldn't have been able to see form one side of the green to the other never mind down the fairway, never seen it so thick. It'd be fun if you were the only ones on the course, I'd hate not knowing where my shot had gone though.

ridiculous, stupid, dangerous and downright irresponsible playing in 150yd visibility fog!

Not if you where first out!!!:D

Personally i dont see the problem. If you're stupid enough to play then your only going to hurt other stupid people

1) so you're first out!

You're on the green, and balls come flying in!!

2) You're on the fairway after looking for a ball for a few minutes. Full blooded drives come raining in as they cant see you!

As I said, Stupid, dangerous and irresponsible and if you don't see an issue you are part of the main problem.

Get off your high horse. My post is clearly in jest.
Some people on this forum need a personality transplant

Back on topic please gents!

From my point of view, if you're teeing off and can only see 150 yards how do you know where your ball is going after that.

If it's a club comp, I would say it's pretty por not to be postponed.

Playing with long hitting blokes, I have enough trouble spotting their shot on a clear day...

I will give you three doubles to finish with Mike.:)

Fog can be a problem at Blackmoor, and you have to be able to see the first green to play. 15 minutes up the road in Frensham, and it was lovely and clear.

That's harsh Rich, I'd say Par, double, double was more likely :D

Was due to play at 9.30 with Ads749r yesterday. The usual roll up went out about 8.00 but it came down and the course shut until 10.00. Reopened then it came down again and the klaxon went off to stop about 10 minutes later just as they'd walked back out to restart from the hole they were on. It was on off for ages and we didn't get off until 11.00 and then it was touch and go for the first few holes. Once it got to midday it began to burn off and we were fine.

The club is the stupid party here for allowing golfers to play in the fog, no matter what the golf union says, surely they have a duty of care to the persons using their facilities. Its like saying its ok to have bare wires on the electrics coz if someone is stupid enough to touch them.................

At my course if you cant see 250 you cant play, they close the course and only open it when it lifts for a decent amount of time.. If it was my club I would be having words with the general manager about his welfare policy for patrons
