Does anybody else's golf suffer when you have something such as a head cold, blocked sinuses, earache, etc.?

I've had a virus for a while and can't seem to shake it. My golf has been horrendous throughout, especially short game and putting particularly.
Could have an effect on balance I suppose, but just wondered if anybody else had suffered similarly or whether I'm just being a big softy?

I think it must affect most people. It's funny but I sometimes play really poorly for no apparent reason and then, the next day or so, go down with a cold.

Any kind of infection / virus or what have you is going to sap energy so I think it's inevitable this it affects perfomance.

strapped up right knee,need a new 1.
plenty of drugs 21 tablets a day YES i rattle when i walk:rolleyes:,but it wont stop me from playing good or bad golf.
if im well enough for work........im well enough to play golf.

Energy definitely an issue, but I can't explain the putting feeling. Feels like it's not me over the ball.
I guess I'll stay away until fully better.

im playing with,3 stents and new valve, copd,a kidney transplant 10 months old, circulation problems in my feet and damaged knees,oh and a paper cut on my left index finger that really smarts, and i still shoot in the low 80's,bring on next year back to cat1.

Ive got a reconstructed heart that does not work as well as it did, so i am nowhere near 100%. But hey, I am still here and I will continue to play to some sort of standard? ;)

I've got a quite sore new tattoo.... I'm blaming that this weekend...

If I'm off it, usually the back nine suffers, in fact that's mostly my poorer nine - I probably need to get fitter!

Very odd Smiffy. I wouldn't say I'm a great putter but I'm not too bad, but when I'm like this I am more than capable of missing silly short putts.

not wanting to scare monger but....

I know a guy who was feeling "off" for quite a few weeks. Like a fluey/cold feeling. Went to drs after week 1, was told to take a week off & rest. he has a stressful job & drives to 1hr 30+ each way to work. After 3 weeks of feeling rough, goes to dr again who referred him for tests. He goes, gets all sorts of tests & has a monitor fitted for a 24 hour heart trace.

Shows up a slight murmur/palpitation in the heart. Few jiggles with some pills later & he is right as rain. Maybe (if been going on for a while) pop in to dr for a little chat & check up?

Thanks drew. I'm sure it's not as other symptoms are concurrent with a head cold, but thanks all the same and I suppose a check wouldn't do any harm if it continues much longer.

I have always had bad hypoglycemic spells, where I don't have enough sugar, and these seem to kick-in on the golf course. You feel sweaty, irritated and in a bad mood, with really bad shaking and an inability to concentrate. I went to the doctor and he blamed it on my diet, which has now been fixed. Some Dextro energy tablets are always in my bag after that.

Like an idiot, I got some new clubs a few days ago, and I went straight to the range to try them out. I was so excited, I didn't bring a glove, and after a few dozen balls, my left index finger started to nip. I woke up yesterday with a red-raw blister, that hurts like hell, and holding a club is a painful task, so I need to give it a rest for the next few days :(
