It was awful.
Or should say, I was awful.
Felt pretty lousy (heavy cold).
Could not have hit the ball worse off the first tee.
Things did not get any better throughout the whole round.
The strange thing is, I have been hitting pretty well on the range lately, but this was my worst nightmare.
Only consolation I have is, things surely can only get better from now on.
Please tell me I'm right?

Elduque....

You're right.

My first game ever was 97 shots. I was not too unhappy until my dad asked which course, and I replied "the 9 hole out on the A281"
First 18 was 124 (or something terrible).....

Didn't take too long to break 100. 90 was tough....

If I may offer further nuggets, I'd say the early games are the absolute hardest mentally. If you've got a swing going at the range/know you can hit it OK, you'll expect some of that to start coming out on the course. It doesn't (unless anyone else had a different experience?). It's a good thing to start from "nowhere" on the course in a way. It'll keep you coming back (for one) and also make you realise that putting and short game are also part of it all.
Even half decent players don't hit that many good shots....it's frustrating.

but addictive. :)

RGs right the first rounds are the toughest. Keep at it. The hardest thing I have found is relaxing on course. Tension kills my swing. Good luck with it all and I hope your next time out is better :D

It is tough, its a long time to get a good swing going, as well as you having to play different shots all the time, different lies and obstacles.

Keep enjoying the challenge and improving! I still am hungry to beat my best even though its a long way off at the moment as I am having a run of high scores.

Yea you are right guys.
Have to keep going.
Got another tee off booked for tomorrow.
I don't want to pump myself up too much as I have found this can have a negative effect on my swing.
Just want to relax and enjoy the round.
At the end of the day that, plus the challenge, plus the competitive endge, is what it is all about.
`Here I go again`.
Maybe that's my problem...

Elduque...

I have played 3 72 par courses and I scored 122 on my first, didnt count on my second (It was very windy so just played a match game which I only lost by two holes)and then 112 on my third. I played very poorly on the second 9 of my thrid game, but scored 52 on the first. I took the positives from them games, but that didnt stop me from playing my worst golf on a little par 3 course on wednesday. Was really down, but that is the nature of golf.

Give yourself a break! You were not feeling anywhere near to 100% fit so your concentration will have been poor which reflected in your ball striking and score.

I suspect there will be a big difference next time out when you are feeling better.

It's normal don't worry about it. A lot of range players (and I was as guilty as anyone) have absolutely horrible short games. They get close to the greens in regulation and then take another 4+ shots to get the ball in the hole.

Enjoy your golf, get lots of course time under your belt and practice your short game.

Dont worry about it, i have over 100 score rounds at my track but then today i shot an 88. bet tomorrow will be the same as i was and hitting 100's, lol
