I’m considering getting back into golf, but my job doesn’t allow me enough time to play lots.

I looked at the website of an established course near me, and membership is about £ 1100, but flexible membership, under a scheme called ‘Play More Golf’ is £560, an amount that appeals to me more.

The offering is 140 points (110 home, 30 flexible), so £4 a point, but it’s a bit lacking in explanation of what that means.

I could call in and ask, but thought someone on here is likely to have a bit if a steer on what PMG is.

When buying points what it means is any time you play a round a certain amount of points comes of your account

The amount will depend on when you play and how many holes

Thank you, I assumed it was something along those lines.

Any idea of a ballpark on how many points may be needed to play on a winter Tuesday morning, or a summer Saturday?

The club website has a link to the details, but it isn’t working for me.

I also understand that points carry over if you don’t use them, and that you can buy more if you run out?

Your best bet will be to speak to them but if it’s £4 a point then maybe whatever the members guest fee is divide that by 4 might be close

You become affiliated to one club and can obtain an official handicap.
Points per round varies weekday/weekend or time-of-day. You might have to contact the club for details.

We have 31 male members on PMG scheme at my club in Leicestershire. This includes a +1.5 and a 0.3 player.
Come April, I think this number might increase.

That’s interesting, that you already have so many on PMG.
I think I may give it a try.
How do you obtain a h’cap? By playing a certain number of rounds with a member?

How many points depends on the course and the day. A weekend costs more than midweek, some courses need more points than others. Being a member at one place isn't necessarily a great guide for another case I'm afraid.

They can be great by the way, you just need to find a place where it works for you.
