A recent ebay purchase included a free gift of some Wentworth tees, a pencil and..
A single prong pitchmark repairer....
Not used one before and not convinced I've seen one either...
But reading up about them and, apparently, Greenkeepers prefer them as they cause less root damage....
Anyone else use one?
Or what have you got in your bag?

I've got 2 repairers, I did have 3 but I can't find the other one so maybe two is the new 3, and both are two pronged. When I'm in a pro shop and see them for sale, they are always two pronged. If one is better, they need to tell the mfrs of them.

I've seen these in a few pro shops. Don't see this as any better than using a tee, which everyone already has in their pocket. Two pronged repairer is going to do the job twice as fast... so hopfully encourage golfers to repair pitch marks.

I expect greenkeepers prefer people who repair pitchmarks (regardless of prongs) compared to the many people who ignore them completely.

Obviously you need to get fitted for your repairers. Maybe one prong is more appropriate for your repairing technique.

It could well be. I'll ponder this today. I'm also going to play a few holes after work today so I will experiment with my usual repairer and a tee peg to see if that is better. Things to think about............It could change my whole repairing process 🤷‍♂️

Do most pros not just use a tee...?

If you repair a pitch mark in the proper manner (simply push raised turf back into place) a tee does the job just grand...and as mentioned avoids any tearing of roots through twisting a pair of prongs.

Single ones do the same job

The main thing is using them and using them properly

I have a lot of them ( from various clubs ) including a single prong one and there is not much difference

Most of the pros use a tee

A single prong is stiffer than a tee so more suited to firmer ground and people with a quicker repairing action. A professional fitting is better than just experimenting with various off the shelf repairers. Also need to consider grip.

I used to buy one when visiting a 'fancy' club, but gave my head a wobble and stopped. I still but the odd ball marker now and again.

Corporate gift bags tend to have the penknife type, but only ever received one single prong, for helping out at a Rose Bowl event at my own club.

Best one I have has a sping loaded carabiner and the top, so can slip onto a belt loop. They annoy me in my pocket, so I tend to use that most.

I tried it last night. I'm definitely a two prong guy 🤷‍♂️

I have a nice stainless steel one my wife got me, with our initials and our daughter's initials engraved on the ball-marker bit. It is a classic two-prong one.

Whenever I've had to use a tee, because I've forgotten to grab the repairer, it is a bit more difficult and takes longer, so not sure why you would want a one-prong repairer.

They're face-balanced, two prong not so much :p
