I've recently been using some Pinnacle Gold 'soft' balls. Given how Pinnacles are looked down upon I was pleasantly surprised how good they are. Given my modest abilities (21h/c) they are more than adequate, especially through winter.
My main point is, given they are manufactured by Titleist, they can't be all bad. Certainly quality wise, they are a cut above other budget brands.
So, does everybody avoid Pinnacles purely on reputation or have you tried and hated them? ;)

No harm in playing them over winter for full swings, any ball will stop on soft greens.

However you won't gain much with your short game if you switch back to a softer ball that will behave totally differently off chips and pitches come April though.

I would play one style of ball (4 piece/3 piece/2 piece/soft or hard cover etc) and stick with it for consistency and learning how the ball behaves on every type of strike.

Just my opinion.

Good advice. I tend to stick to 3 piece (sometimes 4) as I find I get the most out of them in terms of spain and distance for my game. I recently tried a 2 piece again (AD333) and found them fine to drive and hit into greens but they exploded off the wedges and putter compared to the softer feel of the 3 piece (TP black and Z star)

These ones?

I don't know why folk take the mick so badly.

I watched a ball land on the last at a course the other day and spin back miles from 8 foot past to about 2 foot past the flag. This off the wedge (W/S spin milled) of a 24 h'cap player. Never seen action like it.... :)

When he walked off, I commented on the spin and asked which ball.....it was a Pinnacle!!!

Used a Pinnacle exception for the medal on Saturday. Shot 78 net 67 to get me cut to 9.7, so I don't see the problem. Span it back about 20 foot on our ninth, so there is plenty of action available if you hit it properly. Perfect for a bit of winter golf, and back to the ProVs in the summer.

I am an 18 handicapper and I use the same Pinnacle Gold ball and I have found them to be a great ball for my standard of play, plenty of distance of the tee and plenty of spin with my short irons.Need a bit of advice do I stay with this type of ball or change to improve my game?I have only started playing 2 years ago

I'll stick to the carrier bag of old Srixon and Titleist for the Winter. To be fair I have more balls than I can probably use at the moment thanks to generous neighbours and birthday presents. I'll start using the two pieces again now and leave the premium balls for medal/stablefords
