Ping Putter Fitting - Report

Nice thread this, sounds like it was an awesome day out.

Can I ask other than checking the results on the iping putting app, what would you say was the biggest contribution they made?
Seems like to me if you compared the stats on the app with a bunch of putters, see which ones you hole the most putts with, then you are 80% there. Please correct me if I am wrong

As you can tell, I am considering a ping putter

We did try several putters out and using the app me and the fitter found the style that suited me best. After that we tried it out at different lengths to see if we could gain anymore consistency of strike. After that it was then in and out of the tour truck bending the lie and offset angle to further increase the consistency of strike and roll.

It was not so much about how many you where knocking in, but what was giving the most consistent strike and roll. Even though once it was sorted out I was knocking 8/9 of 10 in from 10 foot.

i never saw the point in paying out for custom fitting on a putter, well that day has changed my mind.

Thanks, I hear what you are saying.

Was the consistency of the strike and roll evaluated by eye?

The putting app helped with that. The service we got was not something that was is available to the general public though, it was what the tour pros get. But I would definitely advise going for a proper fitting session as it will help your putting.

For me it was mostly about the app to find my arc type and assess my performance with the different arc type putters, then length, then preference for look and feel, and trying them out to find which I performed best with - all at the right length and from the right arc range.
I was easy to fit because I had a standard lie and loft, no bending of my putter required. I think that was where it really came into its own for some of the other guys.
