Ping- Play your best challenge

Ahh but the challenge and story would be greater for me than you and your single figures ;-p

Having read the way the four were selected it seems GM would agree. I've been close to breaking 70 (but no cigar yet) so probably wouldn't get the nod!

BTW - the 2012 version wasn't gender specific though I doubt many of the fairer sex entered!

I enquired for an application, and even filled it in, but didn't bother entering in the end.

By its very nature - the variety being the four targets to break - it was always going to be four guys picked. (Not to mention previous discussions on here regarding GM's target audience.) I don't have any issue with that in this instance, BTW.

If they were going to pick four golfers to break 70 you'd need more variety amongst those chosen so hopefully a girl would have been picked. At least, that was my thought process! :-)

I agree that it was highly unlikely a girly would be picked but gotta be in it to win it. Not sure if there would be less interest from GMs target audience if there was a female...perhaps some forumites might comment for/against.

Overall I've tried the Twitter thingy and just can't get into it so do rely on this place and the magazine for updates. For me the blogs on the micro site just aren't frequent nor detailed enough but that's just me - I'd have written so much more if I was picked, possibly too much.

That's the only thing if I was organising I would possibly have changed, it's such a great experiment that I might have minimised the risk of a withdrawal or injury/illness etc by having 3 players in each category, good for moral support and with a greater likelihood of success across the board it would be marketing heaven for Ping and GM at the end, good for sales of Ping clubs and Mag subs I would have thought.
However, the cost of tripling the clubs given out and the expensive time generously given by everyone might have commercial limitations.

The PYB challenge still fires my interest though and I'll watch with keen interest, and will be rooting for the fab 4 whether they achieve their goal or not.

I have no issue with the way that the whole experiment has been reported in general and there is plenty of info around if you want it.

I would, however, have preferred more use of the forum simply due to the interactivity involved. A blog is simply that and, as we have discussed on there before, there are hundreds of golf blogs about people improving their game (or not as the case may be). Some of us read them, some have been very veciferous in commenting on how boring they find the average golf blog. Admittedly this project has a better 'hook' than most but it boils down to being a golf blog and that is a bit of a marmite thing. Twitter is something that I really like using but the 140 character limit make it impossible to use for anything other than the briefest update. Facebook, to me, is dying a slow death at the moment as it falls out of fashion. What you have with the forum is a chance for people to comment, feed back, discuss and emote about a subject that non-interactive media cannot provide and that is the reason why I would have liked to have seen more on here.

Not being a great user of other media I would have liked a bit more on here but I can understnd that a lot of info was put out in the Public Domain so really it's my fault for missing it.
I can also understand how Toad finds it hard to fit everything in. Life's busy enough but to then have to fit in lessons, trips to various clinics etc etc then practicing and playing - it doesn't leave a lot of time to do anything else.

But then as I didn't get picked I don't really care - where'sthattongueincheeksmileywhenyouneedit........
