How good is ping's online fitting system?

I tried it out there for irons answering various questions.

It came back with Ping s55 irons with stiff shaft, black dot

Wonder how accurate this would actually be in reality

Must try it for woods, hybrids and see what comes up

Anyone given it a try?

It's a good starting point but no substitute for going to a Ping fitter and getting done for real (or other fitters). There's a dependency to some degree on your swing as well. I'm only 6 feet but came out green dot (at two separate fittings) which is 2.25 degrees upright. Not what I've been fitted for before and I had made changes to the swing over the past 18 months prior to the fits

Go and get fitted, it gave me 3 colour codes different from an actual fitting.

Ditto, along with -0.75" shafts, regular, and standard lie.

Two separate fittings from different fitters this year have both come up +0.5" shafts, stiff and 2* upright.

Agree with comments above, good starting point but not the whole story (iirc, there is a caution dialogue box when you complete the on line fitting to this effect anyway).

Also, when I did my fitting at ping I was static fit for yellow but my shots off the strike boards suggested green which is the next step more upright, so there was a change between measurements and how I actually swung it. Interestingly, when we got to spec'ing the set, the fitter recommended I picked yellow (the static fit) for my 52 & 58 deg wedges as they tend not to rbs full swing type shots as often and therefore the static was most suitable.
