Well I never.
After what seems like forever asking, my club have finally got round to printing Pin sheets.
They divide the green into 3 areas, and you get told which area the pin is in when you check in.
And about time too.
Although I use a Laser so it's not going to affect me much, it will show me if the pin is front or middle or back of the green.

It's only a trial - to see how it goes, but at least it's happening.

Anyone else have pin sheets?
Or the "ball" on the flag? Or the flag on the flag?
Or anything else...

For reasons most of us know - pin sheets would just suit me grand. What does it take to create a little document with a plan of every green. And every time the pin positions are changed the greenkeeper simply deletes the old position and marks where the hole is cut. Then the club Emails this to everyone. How difficult is that? and no cost to the club at all other than the greenkeeper's time updating a document. Actually I think I'll suggest this to the committee. Would even offer to create the green plan document - but the course architect will have that.

...and I'll add - the Head Greenkeeper Emails everyone to say the pin positions have changed when he moves them - not as if he changes them every day.

No need for any cost to the club - make the pin position chart available on our web site or just Email it to everyone. I then print it off if I want - if I don't then I can't complain about not knowing pin positions. If I'm worried about it getting wet - I print off 5 copies and keep 4 in my dry pocket until one's needed.

Detailed green outline (not with slopes though) together with green depth, and how from from front / back / side each pin is. Printed every day.

Good news - another positive move for the club.

Although from a greenkeepers point of view the flags on the flag must be easier. He can do it as part of the hole movement and then its done. no paperwork required for him or the pro shop.

Lets see how the trial goes, I am out on saturday with one of the greenkeepers so should be good banter complaining about the pins :)

course I used to be a member of had the 18 little green maps with pin areas on the back of the scorecard, worked great like that imo. we have the little flags which are great until they get moved or are misleading because you cant see all the pin. not an issue for me any longer as i now have the awesome Z6 to give me accurate numbers :)

What about for all the member with no access to pc,s. Quite a few seniors, and not everyone who has access to the web has a printer. MAybe to save the club money you could print enough off for each person in each comp each week.

We have coloured flags, red for front, yellow for middle and white back.
Works quite well and saves cost of printed sheets everyday.

I'm proud that getting these coloured flags was the (only) useful thing I suggested and achieved during my spell on the committee!

aye well they can get themselves a PC - after all refurbished laptops aren't very expensive - and if they are a member of a golf club then I'm sure that they could afford one - and they give printers away. And there is always the local library :)

3 pin positions A B and C, indicated in the pro shop and on the first tee.

A is BMFBMFBMFBMFBMFBMF
B is MFBMFBMFBMFBMFBMFB
C is....you get the picture.

The scorecard has a picture of each green with an A B and C area indicated for those that find 'the system' hard to follow!

Bit restrictive of creativity in hole positioning mind :-)

The system at our club is you have to phone the club shop before you start every hole and ask them where the pin is. If the line is busy you get put through to a call centre in India.
