Petrol price variance

Quick question then if youre in the industry, why is diesel more expensive than petrol, when the costs of making diesel must be far less petrol, as it's less refined?

I'm in the aviation sector of fuel, however, the price of diesel was put up when diesel cars became more popular. Put simply, supply and demand. Plus China is using an awful lot of diesel now so I would not expect the prices to drop in the near future.
