I wear base layers (usually Under Armour cold gear) for the cold weather, but I've come across a new version for golfers that claims to increase your game !
Pelham and Strutt make golf compression tops that perform the usual moisture wicking and thermal capability that most tops do but the claim to fame is the unique built in zonal mapping that "engages those key muscle groups to perfect posture and improve your golf swing"
Below is the text from the company itself and the bold claims they make ....
Initially launched in 2012 to address the 80% of people who complain frequently about lower back pain, the undershirt was designed to improve posture. They had no idea these garments could soon be seen as a secret weapon on the golf course.
The bio mechanical effects of the compression undershirt were put to the test at the recent Golf Challenge day at the Welcombe Golf club.
With the help of a select few PGA Professionals and amateur players, some phenomenal results were achieved that went far beyond the expectations of the company and players alike.
Single figure handicap players saw an average of 14 yards added to their drives
The average reduction in dispersal in all players using a 7 iron was 5.7 yards
Various colours exist but at over £60 it will probably put a few people off, but what do we make of the performance claims? Can we really expect to see an average 14 yds increase (that's average remember so some may see much more) by just wearing a top? I would certainly be very happy to see the increase in my game stats that this gives !
