Perfect par 3

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club - only 3 par 3s 153, 153 and 158 and all on even holes when you're playing foursomes - variety is the spice of life.

Love a 160 par3 “I hit my 8iron 160” always short the lot of them
160 yards is usually just right for my Ping i10 6-iron 30.5° and 37.25"

I've never had a go with them, but a TM Sim2 Max 7-iron is 28.5° and 37.25". That is likely to go further than 160yds for me.

Don't think the Sim2 8-iron at 32.5° and 36.75" would quite make 160yds for me though. Other players might do it however.

How about a Titleist T400 8 iron 29° 36.5” ?

Having watched a good few shots to that monster par 3 at the U.S. Open I just want to confirm it is mental. Just not enjoyable in any way.

Once our new 13th tee is built we will be able to set up our four par 3s at 135, 160, 185 and 210yds, variety is the spice of life. And I think our 135yd one could be the best of the bunch.

I got the 2 sweep on our 215yrd into a strong wind par 3 the other week. I drew my driver to 15ft and drained a sloapy snakey one. If it was whitenesses by the comp committee, they would’ve given me the entire pot!

A pare 3 should be easily reachable for 95% of golfers and be a feature hole in my opinion. Hardest short par 3 I’ve played was 60yards over a gully on a links. Tiny green with heavy round off the back.

If you want the other extreme YouTube anstruther par 3

One of my favourite par 3 holes is the 2nd at The Manor House, Castle Combe.

151 yards, meandering stream, beautiful scenery, I could play it all day

Our new par 3 opened a month or so ago. I'm finding it a pain in the arse so far. It's around 165 yards but downhill. When I hit 7 iron I flew it because of the elevation. I think 8 iron is the club, but the one time I hit that well it landed short and still ran through the back. Next time I tried a 9 iron, but the shorter you land it, it bounces straight right towards a couple of horrible bunkers. I'm still not sure what the right club is. I'm wondering if I need to hit more of an easy/gripped-down 7 and try and it the front of the green rather than landing it short to kick it on. Might try that next time. So far I've made a bogey once and a double three times - plus another double in the foursomes cup (when it was my tee shot).
