Paul Merson

On Paul Merson - who am I to criticize anyone for their intelligence and the way they speak. Besides - the guy is a recovering alcoholic, drug addict and gambler. Simply for getting his life back together and being open and honest about his personal problems he has my 100% admiration.

If only fully coherent and educated ex-players are going to go on that show then it is going to be in trouble. Chris Kamara has made a living out of being the buffoon but it is part of his charm. Each pundit on that show has their own thing, it is partly why it works. Heaven forbid they go in and get a Garth Crooks.

Tbf I do kinda sympathise with smokers, gamblers and alcoholics etc.

But it if you're gonna dabble in illegal drugs then your moral compass has already gone off for me so you're to blame.

An addict most certainly loses their moral compass - but to say that they are to 'blame' again rather misunderstands the nature of addiction.

Good post sir 👍🏻

So do I.

I had you down as better than this Bri.

He might be Saint Stevie to you, as I'd expect as a Liverpool supporter, but that isn't necessarily so to everyone else. The media outside of Liverpool weren't quite so equitable about the Southport incident. Equally, for all Merson's real or supposed failings he also was instrumental in getting Boro back into the Premiership, so I guess I'm ok with him.

I'm guessing you met him at a party in the 90's as well then Brian;)

Sorry to pish on your chips but He's not at all.

Bringing up Gerrard is just petty point scoring.

At least it's not a cold Wednesday in Stoke. Apparently that is even more scary than a Monday according to the often repeated quote. Your timing is good though, they are just beginning to warm up and get into form. Too many good players there now not to.
