Down at the club yesterday I was browsing the members board and noticed that the committee have put in place an "Adopt a Hole" scheme which I think is a fantastic idea.

Basically, depending on what your surname begins with will depend on what hole you have been assigned. Mine begins with S so all surnames beginning with S have been assigned the 16th. Any time we play that hole we have to try to make an effort to replace some extra divots, repair extra pitch marks and pick up some broken tees to keep the hole in the best possible condition.

Any other clubs have something similar?

Dave, think you got the 3rd.

Like it, I do it anyway on all holes but that is a great idea...

was actually chatting to my mate about this last night. we were practising by hitting about 4 balls each to each green. i said i dont see the problem with this as if i hit 4 balls on and repair 8 pitch marks then im 4 under for pitchmarks. everyones a winner!

Yeah I did see this the other week when I was down there. Will have a look on Saturday and check which hole I am assigned to.

Think it's a good idea, although just means even less that our greenkeeper will be doing. But they have said this is so he has more time to work on more important improvements (like his drinking arm etc probably knowing him).

There is going to be naff all left for him to do soon, he already drafts his sons in to hollow tine and mow the greens, now the members do all the pitch marks and divots......might as well make him bar staff and get Sally out on the course doing some "gardening"!

It sounds a good idea although these are things we all should do on any hole at any time IMO it should be green keeping staffs job to replace our divots and repair our pitch marks fair enough spend some time dealing with ones which haven't healed properly of been further damaged by wildlife but the sat majority should be dealt with at the time of making.
