Looking for some help. There are a few of us at our golf club, all under 35 who have a "Colts" facebook group. I'm doing my best to get as many youngsters involved in it as possible and my idea for 2013 is to run our own order of merit competition, or some form of league that ranks us throughout the year. Anyone got any ideas how I could do it?

At the moment i'm thinking of an order of merit style points system but this could get confusing.

I ran a few season long comps for a few of our club. Eclectic comp (easy to do by using the HDID results and a little XLS sheet), estimate your handicap at last event (basically guess you finishing handicap, can be tailored for biggest drop earns more points), order of merit (10 points for a win, down to 10th place, and double points for board comp).

That's a good idea! Think there is only about 8 or 9 of us so maybe tailor it a little bit until we get more people join us. Good thinking batman!

I like BT's idea OOM points 15 for winner and 9thru1 for rest of places, doubled up for board comps you could also say best 7/10 scores count to allow for anyone missing comps. Could be all club comps too just whoever wins from your colts (!) 35??? group.

i ran our societies order of merit comp for a few years and did it on a set points score for the weekly comps with a min of 10 comps played per player,h/caps were adjusted on a comp to comp basis as the abilities of the 45 members varied from cat 1 players to lads who just wanted a day away from the wife and kids,it was run as a bit of fun and to keep the interest of the lads and a bit of banter throughout the season, the prize was a small shield with the winners name engraved on it,good luck with yours but be careful of pot hunters.

Our colts membership runs to 30 years old, then we have Colts+ membership which grows by 20% each year for 5 years until you are paying the full whack membership fee.

We're all friends, this is just something a little extra, no prizes just for a bit of banter really. Going to ask our pro if he will donate an hour lesson for the overall winner but it's not going to be anything official and is literally just something to keep people interested, get them along on a Sunday morning for the mens competitions and who knows, maybe in the end, might become a club "colts" feature.

We do this at our club.

Every qualifying comp:
1st - 10pts
2nd - 9pts
..
..
..
9th - 2pts
10th+ anyone who competes in that QC - 1pt.

End of season order of merit play off between the top 15 points scorers. However within that top15, there are also a number of comps that gain automatic entry (such as the Clubber & matchplay events) so in effect it's not the top 15 as such, it's the top 7 points scorers who have not already qualified by another means.
