Opinions wanted - Ryder Cup 2018 & 'Gimmes'

There are some nice courses in France, and would like to see more of them.
1ft or under gets a gimmie but never for a birdie or an eagle, just love to see them shake.

Gimmes - you are only cheating yourself if you don't hole out. It is down to a fear of missing. And yet you have to hole everything in a round that counts so when do you get the chance to practice them if you don't hole out each time?

If we're playing gimmes then we usually play that if it's 'inside the rubber' then it's good.

i.e. lay your putter down with the head at the hole and if the ball is inside the metal shaft, before the grip, then it's a gimme. And no, you may not use a broomhandle putter!

I thought gimmies was about saving time.

You could tap the ball in the hole quicker than measuring to see if it's close enough or not!
