Opens opens everywhere

For those interested in Saunton, they have 2 36 hole open events, one on Easter Monday and the other in August. They are 2 of the best events I play in all year. If you decide to come down and want to play other courses, I wouldn't bother with St Mellion. Instead you should consider St Enodoc or Burnham and Berrow, both are far superior tests of golf

this is going to be on next years list unless I can blag the Missus into a trip in August

my question was genuine as I know your previous posts really had a lot off info on the trilby tour and you defended it a lot on a thread that got removed so that is where I got the info from. I presumed that you played in it. If I got it wrong then apologies if you took offence. It was a question from one golfer to another without looking for a argument or trilby tour bashing session.

Agree totally with your main statement and I think most of us who only have golf as a main sport play as much competitive golf as possible by way if county events, amateur tour events etc.

You never offended me at all and no need to apologise, as I said each to their own cause and never thought you were after an arguement. But I will say that the post that got removed on the TT there were a lot of accusations on this forum about the TT having cheats playing in them, and I was actually trying to get forumers their views on how cheating can be stopped, not just cos we were on a TT thread, but in ALL other amateur tour events as they spoil it for the majority. Like these national matchplay events which are rife with false hc's and can't be policed by the organisers. I got fleeced from a 10 hc golfer at his place, we shook hands after 15th I was 2 over gross, he was 4 over gross and hadn't swung a club in 3 wks!!!!! Maybe he had a good day and I was sceptical of him and was unjust, but it makes you think tho? That ended my national matchplay events. But the pairs was a great game 2 2hcs against a 1 and +1, we shot a 69 they shot 66 gross, I think, and they birdied first extra hole. No complaints there as it was great golf.

Anyway I'm rambling here but I wanted to put record straight.

But I wish you luck in your open events this year, your a member on one of the toughest inland courses we have and wish I was fortunate to play it week in week out.
