Open Comps

Been looking of golf empire and looking to enter a few comps.
Whats the likelihood of being able to enter a comp with a max h/cap of 18 when I'm off higher, would I be able to enter but go off 18. I know I can't go off my actual h/cap, just wondered if they would allow me in off the max limit.
Anyone got any good/bad experiences in these comps? And what are the prizes generally?

No reason why you cant enter if your hcap is higher than the limit - my ladies often enter comps with a max of 30 when they play off 36 - they just lose 6 of their shots!

its tougher obviously if you are losing out on strokes

There is only one open i entered which had a real limit - carnoustie open - nobody over 22 could enter - but thats the only one i know of.

no idea about prizes down your neck of the woods - surely if you google the clubs, then they might have some info on their open page.

opens are a great way to play other courses at much less money
