Open Competitions 2016

Beau Desert is well worth entering.

We normally enter one of the bank holiday Am/Am's. £35 each including a hot sandwich after, or upgrade to full carvery for a fiver.

Set a reminder for January 1st though to book it because it will be full in a day or two.

Your local golf union website is also worth a look. A lot of events will probably be low hc's, but the odd one or two for anyone will be great value.

What date is it normally mate ?

Littlestone also do a open week - first week in August -

Burnham and Berrow and Royal North Devon also in August

You will miss the may one as its the same date as Carnoustie I think.

Not sure on the exact date, but it's the late May bank holiday Monday and the August bank holiday Monday.
They do others but they're the two I decide between.

I think Burton also do a couple on weekends. Good value at under £30 including a carvery, and a decent course.

Melton have a few on Sunday's as wel. Not the best course in the world but much cheapness. :)

Glen Gorse near Leicester have an open week in August. Fairly sure the weekend ones this year were an individual and a better ball.

Does anyone know any that are on weekends? I'm not fussed either way but my betterball partner is not keen on using holidays from work....
Individual and pairs not to far from you.
all weekends

Holme hall, market rasen, coxmoor, sherwood, stoke rochford, burghley park, and the same as what region 3 has already said.

If you're over 35 take a look at the Mid Amateur schedule. Brilliant organisation, decent voucher prizes, typically 36 holes, both rounds qualifiers and no bandits!!

End of season final based on Order of Merit points gained through the season. Good set of regulars on the tour

Two 36 holers i try and play are; Fraser Gardner, which is both Dornoch Courses and the Tantalus at Moray, again both courses.

Dornoch is £40 is and Moray £30 ish... but can't really remember tBH

What month is Dornoch?

Already booked to go back next September for a weekend. Would come up again for an Open if I could.

They do play good courses.....not sure how well organised they are and maybe you haven't won anything yet either......

I always look for Beau Desert, Moortown, Sherwood Forest & Hollinwell each year, with a few courses I've enjoyed playing this season I will be adding Alwoodley, The Berkshire, West Hill and possibly Blackmoor to that list if they do them, it's a great way to play really good courses normally for less than a member guest rate and with the added chance to pick up a prize!

My course is well worth entering

I think the organisation is excellent.
Won 2 X £25 vouchers last year and qualified for the end of season final which was paid for by the tour, 36 holes at Hollinwell so didn't do too bad. Hope to do better this year.

Dont know if you know but there is a comp "heathlands comp" two ball Lindrick, Sherwood and Hollinwell over three days. Think it's about £320 per couple.

Yes there's quite a few of these now, also Moortown, Lindrick & Ganton: Blackwell, Little Aston & Beau Desert, all started and were born out of the popular Wirral Classic which I'll do 1 year.

Golf Empire good place to search as there are hundreds of events and amateur tour information. Depends what you want really.... I play in loads of mid ams. Great courses, great value and all qualifiers.
