Anyone got any recommendations based on where they have played in the 1 or 2 years?

Was the course great? Exceptional value for money? Organisation tip top?

Please let me know how much it was and what county it's in as I may not have heard of it.

Thanks

Done quite a few over the past couple of years. Pretty much all in the North West.

Hillside, West Lancs, Silloth, Fairhaven, St Annes Old Links, Delamere Forest. All decent, always been treated nicely and always enjoyed the day.

Just have a look through http://www.golfempire.co.uk/ they have pretty much a full list or Opens and you can sort them via county.

I played 8 last year, but none in the East. However if you didnt mind a drive - Camberley Heath & Mill Ride were good.

the rest were Cat1 events

The Autumn meeting at Woodhall Spa is good value for money £105 for both courses and it includes meals. Should be around £155 normally for that.

And the organiser is just superb ;)

I've just started to enter these (this year). first one was a "rabbits" comp £12.50 at Bingley St Ives. Fab place. Get into the back room where the golf memorabilia is!!!!!!! Also did St Annes on Bank holiday. Will be doing both again this year. In fact I have already booked Bingley !!!!

Two 36 holers i try and play are; Fraser Gardner, which is both Dornoch Courses and the Tantalus at Moray, again both courses.

Dornoch is £40 is and Moray £30 ish... but can't really remember tBH

5 day open at Moray is superb value for money as well.

Iv'e played a few BB opens, Melton Mowbray, Handsworth Wood, Harbourne, Beau Desert, Coventry GC and then Shirley GC and Ullesthorpe in individual forrmat, Despite the golf always enjoyed the day

Beau Desert is well worth entering.

We normally enter one of the bank holiday Am/Am's. £35 each including a hot sandwich after, or upgrade to full carvery for a fiver.

Set a reminder for January 1st though to book it because it will be full in a day or two.

Your local golf union website is also worth a look. A lot of events will probably be low hc's, but the odd one or two for anyone will be great value.

This looks promising. Far enough away for a but of a change but near enough to not have a grinding travel to and from.
