Anyway, getting back to the game we love. What does Woods, (now that I'm out of his backside) have to do to impress Toonarmy?
Best regards

You ''know about'' Sports Psychology? Well done! One of your ''better friends'' is a specialist in Golf psychology? I'm seriously impressed! Shanker/Wanker? It must have taken a brilliant mind like yours to see it. I woud have chosen ''Hooker'' instead.

Without wishing to get involved in an untidy spat, you accused me of a) talking out of my arse and b) knowing nothing about golf.

Ignoring the unnecessarily personal attack, I then proceeded to provide you with some evidence to counter your eloquently and considered argument, which you dismiss out of hand. As I stated in a previous thread, my dissertation was in sports psychology, so yes I 'know something' about it.

If I valued your opinion, I'm sure I would be offended. As this thread was discussing Els' collapse and not Woods' win, that was the element I was concentrating on, not appending to the endless eulogy to the Great One.

Not that your rudeness merits riposte, but Woods doesn't need to do anything to impress me. He's a brilliant golfer. I just don't like that other players seem to fear him and that the authorities seem to pander to him (but NOT necessarily at his behest).

Mind you, if he'd had the balls to say something about the lynching furore when it mattered and not when it was safe to do so, I might have admired him as a person a bit more. Oh, and sacking the border-line thug that is Williams would go a long way to saying what should be accepted behaviour from a caddy. He isn't a paid bodyguard after all.

Or maybe I should just say nyah-nah-ni-nyah-nyah to you instead as that appears to be your preferred level of discourse? :p

Yet again its descended to personal insults. Its threads heading this way that are seriously making me consider leaving the forum, or at very least becoming a non-contributing reader.

Back on topic. It was sad to see Els genuinely look like a spent force today. His 3rd round was sublime and there is no doubt the man can play probably the best golf in the world on his day. Unfortunately his days seem to be becoming fewer and further between.

As for Woods, he can only beat whats put in front of him and if Els can't put a decent sub70 round together then he didnt deserve to win. What impressed me most today about Woods was his mental fortitude to storm back on the back 9 after giving 2 shots back and seemingly ending his challenge.

Lastly, Kaymer looks fantastic. If he continues this form he could be a real threat when the Ryder cup rolls round.

The end :)

Great stuff, Toonarmy. BTW, you're not the only poster on this forum who has been to university. Using this kind of discourse will not endear you to anyone. Is this how the Geordies speak on a Friday night in Newcastle?

i beg to differ
i think your comment is a bit naive
imo your wrong
i can't follow your reasoning
etc etc etc
there are plenty of ways to respond to others posts without offending but we are seeing too many 'playground' spats. i am all for passionate debate but we need to put a stop to personal attacks and colourful language.(i'll take my rose coloured glasses off now and cancel my ticket to utopia)

Okay, Tiger played a magnificent back nine to win the tournament. Well done Tiger, Ernie didn't play a magnificent back nine and lost by two. Martin Kaymer did very well to come 2nd he looks like one to watch as the season goes on.

Look at the rest of the top twenty on the final score list and we can see just why the European Tour is the place to be. It's like a United Nations list. It's good to see such a diverse spread of players doing well on what was a difficult four days.

Els looked jaded and distracted today whilst Mr Woods was completely focuses on the task at hand. I think Els has other issues in his life that are interfering with his concentration.

With regards the other issue on this post. Can we book some ambulances and riot police for the Golf Monthly Forum Users Golf Sociery later this year as some folks will spend the first day knocking seven shades out of each other.

It can be abreviated into F.U.G.S ... THERE IS NO NEED TO ACT LIKE IT.

I know how you feel. It seems the 21% in here that aren't keen on Woods are not allowed to express their opinion in the same way the 21% who love him are, which is something I just don't understand.

That said, I don't believe I have attacked anyone for their posts, just disagreed.

If this forum is to succeed, people will need to be allowed to have their opinions respected, if not agreed with. Otherwise we will just end up with asinine threads (tea v coffee as an example - sorry mwj!) or gushing ones about you-know-who.

I thought we would have proper clubhouse discussions about all matters golfing and yet some in here seem to want to make it personal (attacks, ignoring the points, sarcasm, making their own conclusions etc.). This is something that has only recently happened and I can't explain the shift in tone.

Shanker, you clearly are pro-Woods and that's fine by me. I don't think I've denigrated you personally. If you feel that I have, then I apologise, but don't expect me to be told I 'know nothing' and that I'm 'talking out of my arse' and not respond.

Apologies to all those whom I may have offended in my posts. If I continue to offend, I will glady retreat from the forum. :(

Not being the antagonist, I'm more than happy to talk about golfing matters.

Well said toon, about the smaller money for the also ran's. I was once in faviour of the money being spread out over the field, but now since alot of guy's are making a bloody great living from someone as good as Tiger I'm not so sure now.

If you win it get plenty, if you dont, dont.

Having met a Mr McDowell last year at Portrush, Ego of Tiger, but will never have to winning power of the great man, he's making a bloody heafty wage from doing what? TURNING up and comming 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th or wherever.
Tiger is there or there about's every week where as the also ran's just have to take what they get!

Woods won because he scored 31 on back nine-Els bottled it when he saw who was leading.

His second to 18 was nowhere near getting over the lake. The carry was only 235 and for a player of Els length and ability he should have made the green. As previously mentioned maybe the collapse in RSA came back to haunt Els.

To the users who threw their toys out of the pram its time for beddy byes.
