Hi All

Played in our golf society comp yesterday and scored 35 points off 18, which aint bad as I only started last year :)

Just wonderring now as I am shooting in the high 80s whether I should get rid of my Di9 irons which have rediculous lofts and go for someting slightly less forgiving (like Ci9) as I was going to buy 3 CG15 wedges which would cost me £200 to go with my Di9.

When is the best time to change clubs, im guessing its over winter so you can get used to them? :)

Mattie

If they're working well for you why change them.

You know what'll happen. You get a new set of less forgiving clubs and you'll be spraying the ball all over the place.

Stick with what you have Mattie.

Mattie I know of people who are 10 handicappers who still use what most people would class as 'beginners clubs'.
Because they are so forgiving they don't see the point in changing if they shoot so well.
Because your playing well I'd stick with them until maybe this time next year. You might be down to 10-15 by then and feel a change is needed because you strike it better and more consistent. One thing I will emphasise is don't rush into buying clubs that might be too much 'less forgiving' as it will send you backwards and not forwards.

Good luck. :)

I use an old set of VANTAGE shovels which you can [occasionally] pick up on eBay for less than a tenner! Shot 4 over at Chartham Park on Friday, with a triple bogey thrown in on the 6th for good measure!

That said I was swinging like a girl so maybe I need some new clubs!

You'd have looked much better playing decent irons though James. Perhaps PING???

You're old enough.........
