• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Only 3 days into 2014 and course is closed

Had a post from the club saying the comp on Sunday has been cancelled. No surprise. Not sure the front nine should even be open. The back nine is lower lying and several holes will undoubtedly be out of action now for a good few weeks. I know they were looking at the drainage issues on 12, 14, 15 and 16 but no evidence of any progress

Arranged to play Thursday as it wa the only day my mate and I were free at the same time. Course closed, gutted. Closed today too, hopefully open for tomorrow's round! Been clear here today with a couple of showers late on so fingers crossed. Otherwise I'll just hit the range and practice the drills from my lesson on Tuesday!

I'm from the Newcastle area and compared to a lot of the rest of the country I dont think we havent had it too bad.

I am pretty sure my course has remained open all of the holiday period and it normally struggles over the winter period.

Today I played a course for the 1st time Beamish Park and even in January I can say its the best course I have played in ages even though it was heavy.Cant wait to play it again....and £10 a bargain.

we have been open but carry only for the last week or so. I still haven't played since before Christmas. We did get a mail from the pro shop earlier saying that if it is bad as predicted over night the big comp will be cancelled and the course shut tomorrow - my first game in 2 weeks :(

Was hoping to treat my dad to a round at Heron's Reach today but got there to find out it was shut. Had looked at their twitter feed beforehand (nothing about closure) and considering my local course was open, never considered it would be shut.

Ended up taking him to my home club where we had a great time. Bit wet underfoot, but greens were spot on.

We've been open but on temps, it's pretty dry but the greens are very soft hence the temps.

Hopefully playing sunday in the comp, praying for a dry day tomorrow.

Open as normal for us, not a temp green to be seen so happy days.

Now we just need to see if our bodies hold up as well as the course to the wind and rain due tomorrow

Having said that, heavy rain overnight means we turned up this morning to be told that our pro has walked the first and it isn't playable plus the 18th green is waterlogged meaning course closed and a very dull Saturday ahead

As the subject says, my home course is closed and I'm not surprised, it's been lashing down on and off the past few days and the forecast for the next few is not looking good either.

Had been hoping to get some golf in whilst off through the Christmas/New Year period but that never happened.

A solution to your plight is called Chester-le-Street ;)
Been playing oxer xmas although it was a touch soggy in places.
Going out in a bit with Snell for a bash

We've had quite a bit of Noah's portion here and got to the club this morning to be told no chance. With the predicted weather for the next week I don't see any alternative but the range.

Course closed, next inspection tomorrow at 7am but looks like freezing over night so looking like I might need to resort to desperate measures and go to the range.

It must be bad, just had a mail from the club saying localised flooding. Pairs comp cancelled but course open for casual play.

We have a 9 hole Par 3 course created from the 5 holes that are dry enough to play on. Only played it once and it's ok - only just ok though! Smart Golfer network very handy at such times although won't bother with Bourn as planned today due to rain and more rain...just no fun in such conditions. So it's the range later and maybe the Par 3 course if there's any break in the rain...

We are open, as soon as its stops peeing it down I shall drive over and see who is about.
