TBH Pebble Beach is a course that has never really appealed to me, I think it is massively overrated. Some excellent holes along the beach but the inland holes are just not up to the required standard for a 'world class' course. I think it is a classic case of somewhere that got a bit of good publicity then really cashed in on it to create a bit of aura. There are many other examples of clifftop courses around the world that are much better IMHO.
Thought similar before and watched a bit of the golf this weekend and I wouldn't say it's that attractive as a course. Think it's the history that makes it 'world class' course. Some of the holes look very normal. Think I'd pick other 'famous' courses before playing it.
