One love Manchester

Didn't watch it as much of the music and the acts leave me cold. The cold hearted cynic could argue some on the bill saw it as an opportunity to get a promotional leg up (as I saw suggested on social media) but to me it's another symbol of why terrorism will never win and that music in particular is such a powerful tool to bring people together

Out of interest who were they suggesting did that?
I watched whole thing and putting aside the fact that Americans tend to be more outgoing and confident than us Brits with some of the love and god platitudes stuff, I didn't get that impression.
New material was played by Liam Gallagher and Miley Cyrus only I think. Liam certainly wasn't trying to get a leg up and Miley is good pals with Ariana and is famous enough already she didn't need any limelight. Only one who maybe needed promoting is Niall Horan since he left 1D but he got up, sang and got off stage no fussing.

Liam is absolutely trying to get a head start with his new material. The pathetic, contrived "argument" with Noel on Twitter acting as double proof. Odious man. Must've been tough for him in Oasis, being the untalented one.

I did think the twitter stuff was uncalled for, spoiling a feel good mood of the event, but good on LG to do the gig too. Live forever was good and he added a little bit of rock grit to a candy-floss pop event. I forgive him!

Trust me, as I have a daughter who is 11 and who listens to Capital FM all the time I can assure you Niall Horan gets enough publicity as it is. ;)

To me it wasn't a Live Aid style event where some bands practised to within an inch of their lives to ensure they got the best global exposure (hello Queen and U2), most of it seemed pretty unrehearsed but also pretty fine to me. I never thought some were doing it raise their exposure at all, they were asked to turn up and they did. I actually had a lot of respect for people like Bieber who turned up and just did it with his guitar instead of the whole song and dance thing.

HK - my daughter is about to turn 15 and Horan is the only one from 1D, very much her era, that she still follows. As you say, he will have gazillions of followers on every form of social media. The lad is not struggling and in need of a helping hand. He can hold a tune as well so he is ahead of a number of the other acts on show.

The local rag rang my lad yesterday and he gave them a bit of an interview. His 15 mins of fame started 10 mins ago as it has been printed online. Not a bad read at all.

Just watched a clip on you tube of Chris Martin/ Coldplay singing a song in Munich with a lad called Ferdinand who wanted to play the piano to one of his songs. Pure quality.
