Okay. So I have itunes on one computor, mainly with my own cd's installed, but also with alot of purchased albums and tracks. I want to transfer the library to a new computer. I've transfered the 'itunes' file from comp 1 to comp 2. Now all my playlists and tracks (both mine and the purchased ones) appear on the new comp. But none will play as I get a message saying that the original file cannot be found. This happens on both my music and the itunes purchased ones, which have an exclamation mark next to them.

I've looked online, but I'm slightly confused. The new comps itunes has been authorized. I can't use my iphone to transfer the tracks as the memory is nowhere big enough.

Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Im almost sure you cant have duplicate itunes accounts. So you wouldnt be able to use your iPod anyways (Unless its a older iPod that is, the newer ones wont let you access the HD to drag files)

Best way to transfer the music over though would be a dongle. Just put all the Mp3 files onto the stick and drag them all into the new itunes account.

Bear with me on this one.
If you have your music somewhere off the new PC, clear all music from it.
Browse to c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\my music or whatever it takes to get to your music folder. Go into the iTunes folder and in there will be a folder which you drag the music from the backup from and it will automatically add all of the tunes back onto iTunes. Better doing this while iTunes program is closed. I'm in brum airport at the moment but if you are still stuck late I can post a screen shot.
To may also have to click on the authorise this computer in iTunes itself.

After searching all evening and some of this afternoon. Having read and watched so called instructions. I've eventually got my itune purchases to play on the new computor.

As for my existing saved saved cd's. I'm still working on that one, but it should be straight forward enough.

Brendy. What iPhone are you running?

I have a 3Gs, with the iOS4 new software. When I come to reply to a post on here, the font size of my reply increases, and after the first two or three lines the text is invisible, and the cursor is moving as I'm typing across the forum page of sorts. Are you experiancing the same issue?

32gb 3GS here with ios4.1 and since getting the phone last year it's the biggest mistake so far (upgrading to 4 that is), it looks better but programs randomly shut, same issue with forum replies and the multitasking doesn't really work, even opening supposedly already open apps plot still takes as long to use again. Pain in the rear.

Does the camera now make a whirring / clicking sound as well since upgrading to iOS4 when it's in use?

I've not had any issues with programs randomly closing and I've not had any problems with the multi-tasking. Though tbh I don't use it much.

About the only thing I do like is the files to store apps in.

Glad you fixed the problem hapless. FYI, I had the original 3G and installed the ios4 software and it practically rendered the iPhone unusable. It became ridiculously slow, unfortunately the phone simply wasn't advanced enough to process everything in a reasonable time. I couldn't comment on the 3GS but I have heard that it has coped better than the 3G with regards to speed.

I now have the iPhone 4 and it nips along at warp speed. Also, in regards to your concerns with replying on the forum I think the problem is with the forum, not the iPhone. I am actually replying now and I cannot see what I am writing. I imagine the forum doesn't cope with mobile users very well.

Hi Hapless

Try this

Open Itunes on the PC
File, library. organise Library, Consolidate File

That should do the job

I accept what you're saying and ios4 certainly has something to do with it. However, I haven't experienced any problems with any other forum.

That is of course my personal experience. Perhaps wait for 4.1 to come out (which is being beta tested right now) and that may address some performance issues and potentially the forum issue too?

Not all mobiles, the forum works well on my Blackberry 9700 using the standard blackberry browser.
