I thought I was gonna go 5 hybrid too (I'm actually a big fan & carrying 2 in the bag just now!) but thought that when it got to scoring distance I'd need more control
I figure no point getting to the edge of the green a shot earlier if I just waste a couple in the last 30 yards

didn't Peter Allis used to have a program on TV like this ? I think the pros used a 5 iron most of the time.

Another vote for 7 iron for me. Played a 3 + Putter 9 hole comp a few weeks ago. Winning score was 20 and the spread was just as you'd expect if we'd all played with a full set!

I would use an 8 iron. Brings back memories of a really hot day last summer after a big comp - about 20 of us had been drinking for several hours and the captain decided on all of us playing the 8th and 9th with one club - think it was a fiver in and winner take all and around 8.30 at night - cracking fun although took a while as a 20-ball!

Can anyone explain how to utilise a hybrid in green side bunker or when you need any type of flop shot? Perhaps not thought that one through.

Yes. I get 316 yards carry with my hybrid, so all the bunkers are out of play.
Then, it's an easy club to chip 100 yards, straight.
Watch out... all 416 yard holes are at my mercy....
It'll be the 120 yard par 3s that cause the trouble. Normally I take a 1/4 swing with 64 degree "Alien" Wedge for those shots... usually through the back too.

Id love to play this sounds lotta fun. Id take my driver and maybe after the 132 shots it took me to get to it id be able to hit 1 straight at the 18th.
