For a bit of pure entertainment, a few of us went out tonight and had 9 holes, (floodlit course) we were only allowed 1 club for the whole of the round, the majority of the group took very lofted irons, 7,8,9, 47*W.

All the scores were relatively good considering the fun we were having, i'd recommend everyone to do this, you learn so much about your game, and working on your imagination

If you were going out with 1 club what would it be?

Hybrid for me.

Have actually played in one of these and, using a hybrid, scored pretty well - 4th out of 40.

Not actually a format I see as particularly useful though. The 3 Clubs + Putter is much better - as a thinking/shot making balance - imo!

one of the chaps has the Cobra BIO Cell XL irons, the back of them are flat like a putter, so he was putting left handed with his 7 irons backwards better than he does with his scotty!

Would nobody take a wedge with them? I took a 47* with me? found it better than a 7i as had more loft, dealt with the par 5's fine when i thinned it off the tee?

7iron is not a bad shout. can de-loft or try and play a big slingy hook for a bit of distance. open it up for chipping. that would be no problem to the 2 wedge brigade!

Probably a hybrid. My brother forgot his putter on saturday and putted pretty well with his (No worse than his normal putting at least). Not sure i could putt with anything else

would love to watch someone play a few holes with only a hybrid. the fun around the green would be great viewing!
