Medal…better indication of the health of my all-round game. Too easy in stableford to hide and be in denial of my faults. My Medal score is much more honest. When out by myself, which is a lot, and I decide to track my scoring, I never score stableford,

Who makes you putt out?
The rules
Yes, my thoughts ?
Previously we would put your score and + - or 0 on the scorecard and the computer would work it out, now, we are told to putt out and enter the score.

So previously a - was treated as a nett double bogey.

So if you are playing for example, a Par 4 and not receiving a shot, you are on the green for 2, so 2 putts for a halve or 1 for a win, the mindset was matchplay, now it’s the same for 1st & 2nd putt, but instead of picking up if you miss the Par, putt out for a bogey, despite this making no difference to your score!

Playing last year was a mess, some picked up once they lost the hole, some putted out as if it was a Stableford comp.

From a previous thread:
Did that change when WHS came in?
Prior to that it was done on holes up or down which effectively became your nett score to par, eg +4 after 18 holes became 4 under par.
Under UHS, par/bogey format scores were directly converted to nett differentials.

Can’t remember ever playing a Stableford comp and thinking, “ooh good, this shot doesn’t count” 😂😂
Not sure anyone has said that people think like that at all.

But if you score 8 on a par 4, in stableford, at least 2 of those shots don’t matter a jot. Its just a nil point hole regardless if that 8 was even a 10. Same nett result.

Medal, not so much.

I voted.....thought I posted as well.....hmm, getting old.

Voted Medal. Never heard of Stableford until I moved to the UK. I have no problem playing Stableford, just prefer Medal. I avoid singles matchplay like the plague. I can live with a friendly 2 against 2. I'd also rather not play for money, but since everybody else pretty well insists upon it.....
