After today's debacle on the driving front I made the call to Oxford Golf to arrange a fitting, focussing on the 910 but trying everything else too - apart from the R11 that is.

THey haven't got any 910's in. Wont have for 3 weeks. :D

Someone somewhere just doesn't like me!!!!! :(

Can't hurt. Never been fitted for a driver, don't know if the shaft in mine ie right or not. It's time to find out. Any problems after that are down to me.

Could do but if the shaft is wrong would it be a waste of time?
Surely it's better to have the right kit, then take it from there. For all I know what I've got could be perfect - personally, I doubt it.

Fair enough, just wondered if retail therapy was really the answer, the gear manufacturers keep sucking us in by making us think new clubs will make us better.....but do they?

Been down the c/f route. Ditched it within 3 months. Now got exactly the loft and shaft that I would have chosen without the c/f. Bombing it.

Not convinced.

If you have ever hit this driver well, it's fine, it's you.

Imurg, can't see your driver being that bad off below 9 h/c , could it not be a bad day?

Honestly, my handicap is very much down to the rest of my game. I keep stats. Last year I drove like a 20 handicapper - no offence to them - and this year hasn't been much better.
I can hit it long or straight, rarely both. If straight, it's no further than my 3 wood, if long it's wayward.
Fragger will back me up on this.

I hear what you're saying Chris but at a demo day I hit the FT Tour well and I've hit MP68's well. Wouldn't want to use them all the time though.

where abouts is oxford golf?

From A43 Botley roiundabout, come into town past ToysRus and Halfords. It's on the left over a bridge, down a narrow road.
Can't miss it.......

im guessing A43's a typo and u mean A34 ,Botley rndbt?

small road is called Binsey Lane

where i had 2 of my 3 lessons there Many many moons ago ;)

lol still remember smashing them at the tractor picking up balls ;)

practice for hitting shots keeping them low under trees ;)

Are you sure spending £300 on a new driver will solve the problem?

A few years ago my driving was shite, but i worked on it and i would say i'm pretty ok with driver. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't make much diff what make of driver i use. It helped me playing on a really tight course, you can lose a ball off every tee at Tain and we are only talking missing the fairway by 10 yards and its gone.In saying that my long game is fine the guys i play with say i've the long game of a much lower handicap but the putting of a high handicap

Honestly - no, not necessarily
But I think getting a shaft that at least gives me a chance has to be the right move. My swing has got stronger over the last year. I need to know that what I've got is right or not. Then I'll know for sure that the club I've got fits me and the rest is down to me.

Its a strange beast new clubs over lessons.

I had a similar issue with my driver, I picked up a very expensive shaft and head for buttons on ebay. Thinking the best of everything would make the difference.

I went through 15 months of hell with it. Even had a lesson but all to no avail, The same old problem the push shot.

I finally decieded so in late 09, enough was enough, went for a "fitting", walked away with a Cobra LD08 for £80.

Driving is now the best part of my game.

Also similar, I had suffered with shots leaking right with my irons. Had them fitted, needed 2 degrees up right, Hey presto the leak right stopped.

While lessons are important, finding the right equipement suited to you. Its probably more important in the first instance then everything can be built on from there.

Well thats my opinion anyway.
