Novelty idea for a comp?

I like all this banter! Sounds like we could have a bit of a forum oldies vs young guns match on the cards!

Hardly worth the effort mate. It's a foregone conclusion that the old farts will win.

as long as it's only 18 holes lol...also not sure at what age you become an oldie !!

What could happen is we have regional meets and have say 32 at each one and the 16 youngest play for the young guns and the oldest 16 are the old farts! Just an idea as I suspect there is more over 35's than under 35.

We could push it to 40 and see how it levels out. ??

Not sure about the age split!

At 27 I feel I've been past it for years now. Also pretty sure I could grind it out with some of the old farts too.

Does sound like a bit of fun though so I would be up for it.

I may look 25 but I would have to own up to being in the elder gentlemans category. I can honestly say I havnt started leaking from places that shouldnt leak yet

I'll have a look this week and see what I can come up with. Plenty of time till September/October. Should make an interesting days golf.

I think the 35 year old cut off point for being declared an old fart is too low. I think it should be 50.
At age 35 I was playing some of my best golf (believe it or not). As a real old fart, winning this competition with some 30 somethings in our team would be a bit of a hollow victory.
I reckon it should be the over 50's versus the whippersnappers. Or 45 as a minimum.
That would be a real feather in the cap

I think it depends on how many people are interested in playing and what ages they are.

If we had a one day meet, there could be two options:

1. We have a limit on the amount of people coming. That way we can have equal teams of overs and unders.
2. Have unlimited amount of entries and have the youngest half vs the oldest half.


Anyone have any other suggestions?

(If I'm honest I can see the age rising to about 45 rather than 35, also I don't want to restrict anyone coming)
