Just wondering if there should be a golf fee refund here.
On comp day a few groups went out at allocated time. The rest arrived, paid comp fee and then there was a big downpour where everyone took shelter in the pro shop.
The pro said just wait a bit and the Captain showed her phone with the weather radar of it not improving.
Some went home, and the rest had a coffee in the club. The weather cleared so many went out as directed by the pro around half an hour later.
During presentations we were told we weren't eligible to win any prizes as we didn't hit off at allocated time.
The pro and captain did not inform us of this pre going out. If we were not in the competition should we have paid a comp fee? Should we have still been able to be in the comp?

Seems a few things here

If you have booked onto a comp at a certain tee time then unless the course is closed or there has been a weather delay added for everyone then you should go off on your tee time

If you delay your round etc then there are rules that cover that

You can stop for weather if you believe there is any danger

But if the Pro shop has been deemed to be an authority that can allow a weather delay then that’s ok

But if you just decide to hide from the rain a bit then continue playing then that’s not really allowed

Common sense would be a good thing as well - no reason why the pro etc just don’t move your starting time to allow you to still play in the comp

But the only way you would be ineligible is if they DQ’d

As above, there seems to be an absence of common sense, and/or the pro forgetting to move your times.

If you went out as directed by yhe pro and your score was eligible for a prize, I'd be pretty annoyed by being told you were not.

Did the folk who went home get their entry fees back?
Thankyou and yes they did.

Seems a ridulous state of affairs to me. The players who went home did nothing differently from yourselves as far as the rules are concerned, so either you all should have been refunded your entrance fee or non of you, if you were to be disqualified. Slightly different if the pro was acting on behalf of the committee, those of you who played should have been eligable for prizes and those that went home could recieve a refund at the discretion of the committee.
