Stupid stupid me. I've just looked at my clubs and noticed that I've left my 8 iron at the course last night. I used it last on the 14th par 3. As I was last out on the course, and the 14th was my last hole, I hit 2 balls with the 8 iron, then 2 with the 7 iron. I lent the 8 iron against the 'Please repair your divots' sign.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggghh !!!!

I've just rung the club, got through to the bar as the Pro Shop is now closed. They advised it's best to call in the morning to see if one of the greenkeepers hav found it, or to see if it's been handed in there.

I'm absolutely devastated, I'm going to pray this evening for the safe return of my beloved 8 iron. It's only 7 weeks old, I can't believe I left it out in the cold and rain last night.

Here's hoping to peoples honesty and goodwill, fingers crossed I get it back.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Its amazing how easy it is to do. I never leave my clubs around greens now and would rather take my carry bag over the other side of the green and play the shot than pick a couple of clubs and leave them on the edge of the green. Hope you get it back

i done that i hit my 7 iron on a par 3 and i put my 7 iron on the floor and then got out my 8 iron to have a shoot then i forgot about the 7 iron and went to the green and then i knew i forgot something and i went back to the tee and my 7 iron was just laying there lol. i was scared for a moment or two :) but i am sorry to hear this mate :( hope you get it back

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

I had a similar disaster last week.

After deciding that my eyesight is so bad I should wear my glasses on the course, I then proceeded to lose them!! at a club we were visiting for a day out. They were fairly new ones as well.

Unfortunately I was not insured.

Hope you find your club. Its really annoying because you know roughly where you lost them but the golf course seems to gobble them up.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

Good tip always place club next to flag or flag next to club, then you or someone in your group will always see the club before leaving green.

Either that or make sure to toss your club in the direction of your bag before using putter.

BTW: Best of luck in retrieving your club from the club.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

I am sure it will turn up in the morning

I found a 6 iron a few weeks ago and handed it in hopefully everyone else will be the same

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

found a wedge last week and had all the good intentions to hand it in when got back but just totally forgot til went up there to play a couple of days later and went to have a chip pre-round and thought ...bugger theres that wedge i found..lol

sold it for £20 on ebay ....nah handed it in ;)

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

Whether its a head cover, a wedge or whatever, it always gets handed in when I get back to the pro-shop.

Would never simply forget, as I'd want whatever I'd left on the course returned to me, so would give the favor I'd expect in return.

Some sorts of things we can forget about, but not this sort of thing.

If it's a Cobra, don't worry, nobody'll go near it.....now, if was a fluffy bunny 8 iron, my girls would bring it home and make it a pet.

Seriously, good luck, I reckon your chances are good.

I've done it and never failed to get one back, even on a public course, but then again it was a genuine Mizuno TP blade 7 iron....

Hope you get it back.

When I use more than one out of the bag I always put the one I am not using more or less between me and the route I will take back to the bag so I dont overlook it.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

Do as Cernunnos suggests, only lay your club on top of the flagstick when it is lying on the green. That way whoever replaces tho pin has to lift the club if you forget. It also keeps the club's grip dry if there is moisture on the greens.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

Personally I prefer to lay the flag in the fringe if at all possible as its less likely to damage lush (softer) greens if not layed on it. Of course some greens are that large that its not always convinient for some people, or for the constraints of good time keeping. But I really do consider it good practice to lay the flag off the green where possible.
