I normally start with evening all but sitting here on the couch and looking at the time its the start of a new day so.............Good morning all:)

It looks like golf will be on the back burner again nearly 3 years after rupturing the Achilles Tendon on my right leg iv only gone and done the same thing again on the left leg.....
I was warned that it was only a matter of time before it can happen to the opposite leg...
Its kind of ironic really as it was the previous injury that made me join the site so that i wouldnt be getting bored at home....

Its the couch for me tonight as im completely banjaxed....Im dreading ringing the boss in the morning..
I didnt even bother going to the shambles of a health service we have here as spending the night on a plastic seat in A&E isnt my cuppa......................
And the funny thing is i could nearly tell the doc in the morning exactly what to do.

Saying im on a downer is an understatement....Sickened....Just when i was starting to come into some form...
Subs were paid for the coming season and i was raring to go.

Looks like James with his gammy back and me with my gammy leg are gonna be spending a lot of time on the keyboard.... :(

sounds like a nightmare too. ive been lucky not to have an injuries thats kept me away from golf. had a bad football one and didnt play for 17 weeks. feel for you lad !

its a complete pain in the ass Gary....I spent 4 1/2 months out of work and in a cast the last time it happened and this time i cant afford to be out so as soon as im in the cast ill have to go back to work.....Truth be known i want to go back...Ill go off my head here at home if i dont.

You have my deeeeeeeeeeeeeepest sympathies. Getting injured seems like a frikkin' habit to me but at least I come up with something different every time :ears:

I can't walk right now but I'm already doing stretching exercises  hope your's isn't as bad as you think.. let us know

how did you manage to do it? is that a golfing injury?

No Pal.....The right leg happened 3 years ago while playing a soccer match.....It ended my career at 34....Not professional or anything but i played in the top Junior league here Limerick since coming out of minor at 18 yrs old....

Tonight it happened playing 5 a side.....

The weird thing is that all along i was being careful with the bad leg and now iv just gone and done the good leg...So now im balanced up with 2 crappy legs..:(

Hope so too pal...But going through it before tonight felt like Deja Vu all over again...Same place on the leg same symptoms and definitely the same pain....

Only thing is im gonna try and get a lighter cast this time as i was able to get my way aroubd the course with the last one but it was mental heavy....
And in fairness to the club they had no issues with me playing comps while i had the cast on...So hopefully all is not lost......

Ill let you no the outcome tomorrow anyway.

jesus, thats the worst possible thing that could happen. really unlucky lad. played indoor tonight for first time in two weeks and have a massive blister burning the bottom of my foot and had to cut the skin away. your injury makes me feel like a wussy. you'll miss the footy then too. i just hope you dont support arsenal then you would really be in the dumps. ;)

:):):)...
Ah ill survive Pal...
Been there done it before and know what to expect.

I absolutely feel for you mate. I wish you the speediest recovery. I missed just a few weeks around Christmas after a hip operation and was climbing the walls, I can't begin to know how you feel.

Good luck!

Many years ago I did the cruciate in my left knee playing football. Was on crutches and a stick for nearly 6 months back in those days (over 30 years back). About 10 years later, I did it again in the same knee playing baseball. NHS were useless, wouldn't even treat it despite it swelling two 3 times the size - "come back in a week when the swelling has gone" was the only thing they said after I'd been sitting in A&E for about 3 hours...... Went to the local sports injury clinic, had treatment from them, they fixed it up in about a month.

Sure I remember you wondering whether getting back into footy was a good move.....:mmm:

Harsh one Kid.
Hope it doesn't take too long to heal.

Now will you stay away from footy....?:fore:

Sounds bad. Feel for you.

Can you work with your foot in a cast? Mate of mine did similar, and they wouldn't let him back without a docs sign off due to insurance and health and safety fears. Doc wouldn't sign him off, so he was off for 3 months. He's a desk jockey too, so really caouldn't see the problem.

Ouchey - that is tough luck. Friend of mine did the same playing squash. Got fit but didn't return full on to the game and a friendly knock about saw the other tendon go :(

Heal fast!

Sorry to hear about the Injury Kid , it was a soccer injury that got me more into golf , the body is telling you something matey , hope its just a twinge or a twist & a bit of rest will do it but as you have had the injury before you sound convinced ,,
our club is boasting about the new sand in our bunkers , problem is the ball goes right down now , had a worse than fried egg lie sunday , hacked it out , have lump on right wrist for my trouble now , oh joy just as season gets going ..

Mate, I am so gutted for you. I can't believe you've had the bad luck for this to happen again. I can't imagine how it must feel for a second time :(

I've just started playing football again myself after much deliberation and convincing from former team mates but reading your post has made me suddenly want to retire. Really hope you have a speedy recovery fella. Sending you a big man hug! Keep your chin up.

I think we need to start a GM injury clinic!! Sorry to hear all these injuries but touch wood my back has stayed solid for a year now!! Well that's just given it the kiss of death I'll be on here next!!
