Nooooooooooooo not again

I know the feeling, was suffering with policemans foot in 2010 and through 2011 (seems to be on the mend now) - and lost my game due to a sprained wrist in 2011.

I guess that now I'm nearly 50 its what I should get used to

That is terrible new mate.

You have my sympathy as I've ruptured pretty much all the ligaments in both of my knees in separate injuries some time ago.

The positive is you know the recovery process and how to manage yourself.

The downside is, as you've said, you know how long you are going to be out of action.

Hope the recovery goes smoothly.

Sounds bad. Feel for you.

Can you work with your foot in a cast? Mate of mine did similar, and they wouldn't let him back without a docs sign off due to insurance and health and safety fears. Doc wouldn't sign him off, so he was off for 3 months. He's a desk jockey too, so really caouldn't see the problem.
o

Not sure murph. Hopefully i can as its a boot type hinged cast ill be in.depends on the boss now and whether he can do without me or not

Hope it soon goes mate. Know how you feel. Done something similar with mine. Only one of the dogs did mine. It ran full belt into my leg (its a rottie by the way). Everything bent the wrong way. Felt it go. I went down like a sack of spuds. That was 4 months ago. Only just now starting to walk without to much pain.

Hope its not as bad as you think.

Did my cruciate ligament 20 years ago (this week!!) playing football, knee swelled so much couldnt get any pants on, hospital wouldnt treat for several weeks and ultimately had MRI scan and was offered surgery with no guarantee it would be any better, put an end to my football career and I eventually found triathlon and did Ironman UK in 2009 but after 15 hrs of exercise and compensating for the weekness in my left knee I ended up tearing my achilles!, was again advised against surgery and now have a nice bump on the back of my leg. I have spent the last two years trying to regain enough fitness to return to triathlon but have now given up on that and returned to Golf :) .

On a practical note, does your course have buggies for hire? means you could still play without much walking

Just found out.......................bad one mate.
Wishing you a full & speedy recovery.
I think patience may be the key, don't come back too soon for fear of a relapse injury.
Take care fella and keep us posted, we DO care.

Slime.

Sorry to hear that. On the plus side once you get back into golf, the longer nights will be here. the courses will be looking their best and it will be sunny(?) and warm. Hope the original prognosis is wrong and it isn't as serious as you think

have nothing but sympathy for you mate, i had chronic achilles Tendonitis and a longitudal tear on mine and got something called Topaz Treatment (slit my achiilles open), i was walking within a week without crutches, was still over a year before i could go full pelt but now its like it never happened.
hope the dark days dont get you down to much and heres to a speedy recovery

Ya JP plenty of buggies for hire:):):)
Been there and done that the last time. You couldnt keep me away from the course.

The doc told me this morning that he reckons my left one went compensating as well for the right one...

Well its official fellas....A full rupture at the musculotendonous junction (exactly where your calf muscle and achilles tendon meet:( )

Im now here sitting with a full cast from my ankle to the top of my thigh bent at 45 degrees at the knee and a Plantar Flexed foot.....
Try taking a Pee in this position.....Its not even funny...I have to balance on one leg:)

Have to go back and see the surgeon on tuesday next to get fitted for my boot....I wonder could i get them to fit some Black Widow soft spikes:)

Really sorry mate. How crap. Are you going to have an op or let it heal naturally?

The joys of it Pal....Well im of the philosophy that if you fall off the horse get right back on...
Iv had the last one heal naturally and in fairness it has not been a bother.
I think i naturally heal pretty quick which is a good thing but the days of my playing footie now are definitely gone....

I admire your positivity mate - really do hope you have as fast a recovery as possible. Another positive with the natural process is that it's already begun. Not at all surprised that that's it for footy. I played this evening and was a lot more tentative than I have been these last few weeks. You really have made me re-think my return to playing!

Just be very careful pal....Its something that wont really give you warning.....That said it would have been exactly 3 yrs on the 10th of may this year since i did the right Achilles.....And its taken that length of time for the left one to go.....Just some food for thought.Im not trying to put you off completely and as i said there is no point in getting on the horse in the first place if your going to stay down when you fall off!
