this may have been covered before. I sold a driver 5 days ago, the T***ser hasn't paid, I've emailed him 4 times with no response. I'm going to start a dispute but what do ebay do? and seeing as I can't leave him poor feedback is there any point ?

Ebay now gives power to the buyer, non-paymeny strikes mean nothing either, try a second chance offer or re-list it would be my advice!

I hate some ebayers with a passion, I've had great bargains and still use ebay howeve last year I got my fingers burnt big time by a chunt from Dunfermline!

and if he's ill, or travelling for work, or on holiday?

there's a lot of impatience from both sides on ebay - sellers expect buyers to be online and pay within 30 sec of winning. buyers expect goods to be posted the instant they hit PayPal - even if it is 2 in the morning!

with Snipe there's no need to be there, which is why I use it. (mind you if I wanted to snipe something that was going to finish when I knew I would be away I'd email the seller first)

If you can't pay straight away, then email, just because it's ebay doesn't mean you can take the p**s. I'm not sure 5 days waiting is impatient, why should it be any differnt from any other internet purchase ?

I dont get the problem with some ppl on ebay ,u buy u pay

if u place a bid and youre going to be away ,you msg and tell them, just to let them know,it the courteous thing to do

its hardly rocket science (unless youre buying something to do with rocket science  )

if i buy something its cos i want or need it so,
I pay immediately after buying the item.

Just had/having my 1st bad ebay experience today, had a non payment dispute opened against me, im 350+ 100% feedback

someone from China said i havent paid yet

Shame ive got Paypal transaction id # to prove i paid immediately after auction back on the 29th dec

rang & spoke to ebay and they said i have to wait for the seller to respond back to my reply telling them i have paid.

At least you have the club, I'm in the worse position of having paid for a 5 wood before Xmas and it still not being here, seller is being evasive and I've opened a dispute, hopefully get a refund soon, should've gone to a shop but you don't get 5 woods for £24 in a golf shop!
Ebay can be risky but I generally come out ahead.

Had the same problem in December. Sold a driver, waited 2 weeks for payment, nothing. Emailed 3 times informing them that the item was packed and would be sent as soon as payment made, nothing. I don't have a problem if they don't want it, let me know and I'll re-list it, but nothing. Ended up opening a non payment case with ebay, buyer paid same day....

I got an email last night, after I'd opened a dispute to say he'd pay on Tues, that's 9 days after the auction ended. On one level if he does pay this is OK I'll get the money, but there is no penalty for him doing this apart from me witholding feedback (wooo)

generally how does it sit legally if we name and shame these characters

I have been caught both ways recently on ebay, I won a set of nearly new left handed clubs, I paid straight away by paypal and sent an email asking when and where I could collect them. No answer for three days and then the seller contacted me by email telling me there was no way they would sell the clubs for the price I paid. They however refused to refund my money. I took out a complaint with ebay and paypal and finally got my money back nearly a month after paying. The second case was I won and paid for a club on 15th Dec, after allowing for christmas and poor weather last week I contacted the seller, as to where the item was, apparently it was "in transit". The item arrived on the 12th, having been posted on the 10th, 3 and a half weeks after payment. The frustrating thing on any ebay dispute is the time they allow for the other person to respond, which after the frustration of waiting for the item to arrive, and not being delivered makes me even more mad. You have to remember that there always more honest sellers and buyers than dishonest ones.

Unfortunately as said before ebay is all geared towards the buyer.

If they do not pay you after 7 days open up the dispute and after a certain time it can be escalated or closed and you will get all your selling fees back and still have the item.

Does your head in as a seller but thats the way it works, unfortunately if the buyer does not want to pay you then nothing can be done by you to force the money from them :(

generally i think ebay has grown into a bit of a monster.

Like others if im bidding on something i want it, so with that said if i pay instantly or same day of it ending, i expect the seller to ship the item with the same urgency in which i paid. Now dont get me wrong i dont expect 2am dispatch, or sunday postage. but if i won a item at 1am monday morning, and paid for it instantly, is expect the seller to show equal respect by posting it at some point monday, tuesday at the very latest.

Likewise if im selling on ebay and someone bids and wins, i expect payment. I allow customers a maximum of 5 days to pay, with a daily reminder in the 3rd, 4th, 5th day. if they was there to bid, they should be there to pay. If it takes 5 days to pay without any resonable excuse, then it will take me a little longer to post.

I really gripes me that people think its fine to bid and then not make any effort to get a payment to the seller, all this cr*p about " im sorry ive been away from my pc " is just that , CR*P! most phones are now internet ready so pay from your phone, if your not near your PC are you telling me the people you have been near have no PC.... yeah right!

Bid pay receive
or
list,get payed, ship
