Interesting that you had PS4 and then went to Xbox. I toyed with the idea of the PS5 but don't like the idea of it not being backwards compatible with the games from previous PS versions, so was thinking of getting the PS4.

Watched a few reviews on the Xbox series X but it doesn't blow me away.

It's the other way around I think, xbox has always had issues with backwards compatibility, Sony have said 99% of PS4 games will play on the PS5.
I bought The Last Of Us PS4 game the other week and its installed on my PS5 without an issue.
Didn't have you down as a gamer Brian ?

Series X and PS5 are both built around Zen 2 Octacore Processors and RDNA2 graphics (all AMD) so I'd be massively surprised if capability of the machines is that different. Porting of the games may be the differentiator.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, there's very little in the consoles, for some it may be down to a particular title they can only get on one console, for others it's that most of their friends play a certain console. There's cross platform on COD now so that negates a lot of the problems, I guess that will be the future with all games ?

And the very next review I've just watched said the games are compatible. Started gaming way back with an Atari, and have never really stopped. Prefer the flightsim/shoot 'em games. Assassin's Creed series intrigues me. And then there's Tiger Woods PGA.

Mrs Hobbit is way worse than me, but for her its the Super Mario/Sonic type games - she's even sat now playing something.

I like Denon gear in general, it's pretty good. Never been a fan of any speaker they have produced though.

Their bottom of the range sound bar gets a high rating and great reviews by the hifi and tech reviews.

My HIFi speakers are probably a name you would not recognise, Aerco, when I lived in Woking they were a HIFi specialist shop and they were built to their specs. They had a full listening room and I tried all the major brands, before buying them. Lot of dosh back then (late 70s) £200 the pair the sort of money I do not have now.

My mate still has a set of vintage Aerco speakers. With the peerless tweeter design. They are a bit loose now but still sound great.

I don't doubt that the Denon sound bar sounds good, I am just wary of their general speaker efforts, personally I would try to find an equivalent priced bar from the likes of Cambridge or Polk.

I've mooched about some camera gear but there's nothing on offer that makes it into an impulse buy territory.

Haven't bothered for the last few years.

Don't see the need anymore unless my grips need changing or my groves are not providing the desired spin.

Our club provides a free service every year on renewal so I have my loft and lie angles checked and all good atm.

usually i dont bother, but got 2 good deals
1) Bought a Ring floodlight a few weeks ago.. as a customer got my 10% discount.. So went from £250 to £225. Now they ran a BF event taking it down to £170.. So called them up to say WTF.. Fair play to them, they did a price match AND gave me a 10% discount.. so got it for about £155..

2) Putting a mesh n/w in the house. The router i was looking for hardly moved.. then it dropped suddenly on Amazon...and everyone else followed.. Saved me nearly 70-90 quid.

nothing else.. 200 quid in the pocket is fuel for whole of next month...

I bought a pair of Hugo boss jeans about 10 years ago, on sale for £80 reduced from £150. they fit like carpet slippers. Best pair Ave ever had. They are getting past there best. Saw an identical pair on eBay. Won them for £24. Me smile was comparible with the one I had the day after I lost me virginity.
Bought grandson a “ turtle” helmet for his birthday. £25. He will be over the moon.

No price reductions on any of the TV's I've been tracking so just a matter of deciding which one and negotiating what size I'm allowed with the boss.

Ended up get an extra £60 off the set I was watching with a price match at RS.
Now got a 55 Sony 9505 coming Friday ?

New chair arrived this morning (the old one broke a few weeks ago), bonus to get it a bit cheaper in BF deals. Have gone for a gaming style chair rather than a normal office style chair! Nice to have my desk all set up again, having thought it wouldnt be again until after we moved

Still not pulled the trigger on a phone, despite all the choice cant find what i want!
