Nissan

I still dont see why this type of car is so popular, if you want some room get an estate or one of those Focus Xmax cars which will probably be more economical and more comfortable, if you want a 4x4 then get a real one but I would question why 99% of people who own one needed it, it amuses me seeing women driving these SUVs to take the kids to school. Although as mentioned they are very popular.

Are you on a wind up?

Why not make a defense for their practicality if you disagree.

You've made a post comparing a qashqai to a 4x4 when they're nothing like one.

As for practicality they're a spacious family hatchback motor with an average sized boot. They have a higher driving position, they're a comfortable motor to drive that are no bigger than a focus.

Can you purchase a Qashqai with 4 wheel drive? Is it an SUV?

It's an alternative to a Golf, Focus, Astra etc. for people who like the safety a higher seating position brings.
Very clever marketing by Nissan. They saw a gap in the market, went for it, and now have the 6th biggest selling car in the country.
And they were wrong????

Mate,
So with about £8k to spend (I know it's not a lot) , are there any models i should look at. It would mainly be used to drive to work and school drop offs with the trip back up north every couple of months.
Cheers

I car share to work with a guy who drives a QQ. Not the most inspiring car in the world but it certainly ticks a lot of boxes. It is comfortable, has plenty of room, enough pull to hold it's own on the motorway and pretty well equipped.

You could do a lot worse!

Guy in the office has one. Loves it.

I used to have the old style X-trail. Couldn't fault it for the money. The new one looks to much like all the other cars in that class to me and not "offroady" enough. I tested a Qashqai a couple of years back and found it underpowered and not enough room for luggage, so the earlier comment about the new engine is encouraging. My old x-trail used to tow cars in the snow out of hedges... not sure if the new one could. My current FL2 is soon to be changed and I've no idea what to get.

I've got a new x-trail (66 plate tekna, 7 seat 4WD) can't fault it at all, plenty of go considering its only a 1.6 diesel. Has more than enough to pull my old mans massive caravan around for him. I've been well impressed with it so far.

If you could manage to find a Qashqai Diesel for around that price I would recommend one of those over the 1.6 Petrol all day long, but it's likely to be a bit higher mileage and will have a cambelt so you want written confirmation that that has been changed. The next model up from the Visia (Acenta) will give you some useful extra equipment like rear park sensors, auto lights/ wipers and a few other bits and pieces. You also get climate control rather than straight air con.
Unfortunately if you want something along the lines of a Qashqai, there isn't much out there for £8k to compete.

Cheers for the advice mate.

Nissan Qashqai paper thin, my daughter had a wee accident the other week, low speed bump in her Citroen C1 into the back of a Qashqai, by low speed 1st gear around 15mph, did £2700 worth of damage to the back of the Qashqai.

Nissan you couldn't pay me enough money to have one, been in a few, driven a few do not like them at all.

There was a reason why it's nickname was the Cashcow!

Every 5th car seems to be one...

Not my cup of tea, I much prefer driving around a dented aging Yaris petrol that can't pull auntie Tracey of the throne.

They're too common in the NE as well, every other car is a Nissan it seems.
