Nissan

I'm not too sure which model we've got but we got the higher specced qashqai 16 plate last April and I love it. It's a really nice drive, 400 + miles a full tank of juice, panoramic roof etc it's a beauty. Definitely recommend it

Any users of Nissan Qashqai 1.6 VISIA 5dr ?
Pros and cons please?
Cheers
Midnight...

Base spec. Depends on how old it is, but if it's the older 1.6 petrol (which I am assuming it is) it's okay for around town but pretty gutless out on the open road. Lack of 6th gear means it sounds a bit "vocal" at anything over 55-60mph. Fully loaded with 4/5 people and a bootful of luggage it "wouldn't pull granny off the pot" (to quote my old mum).
Very reliable though. Hold their value reasonably well. The older 1.6 petrol engine is a Nissan lump so no cambelt to worry about.
If this is the "newer" 1.6 turbo petrol engine (which it sounds like Stuart's is above) then forget all that I've said, but the newer engine is only in the new shape Qashqai (which came out Feb '14).

Cheers for that mate, it would be a older version 10 plate. Thanks for the info.

Cheers mate,
We would be looking at a older model but thanks for the info. Obviously you have way more money than me .😁😁

Its not a 4x4, its not a super mini, its not a saloon...what is it? (I assume the question was?)

It's an alternative to a Golf, Focus, Astra etc. for people who like the safety a higher seating position brings.
Very clever marketing by Nissan. They saw a gap in the market, went for it, and now have the 6th biggest selling car in the country.
And they were wrong????

It's an SUV and a superb one at that - it's the car I will get for the wife

I have just bought one , a Tekna i believe , panoramic roof, leather interior and all the toys .1.5 diesel and up to now its a great car , had a zafira a while ago but it was not a patch on this , very economical and a good drive.Plus a large boot for the clubs and luggage, so all in all a brilliant all rounder.

I am not sure what kind of car it's supposed to be. Why would you want one?

Ha ha. It's a good job you weren't running Nissan. It's the car that probably kept them afloat, certainly the car that changed the market in the way the Espace or Scenic did. A gamble by Nissan but one that paid off handsomely. It is a high riding hatch, hugely popular and much copied.

They've stopped producing the Quashqai 7 seater now, they are pushing the X-Trail as the larger option to the standard Quashqai,

I believe the Renault Kadjar is 60% Quashqai including the chassis.

Guy in the office has one. Loves it.

I used to have the old style X-trail. Couldn't fault it for the money. The new one looks to much like all the other cars in that class to me and not "offroady" enough. I tested a Qashqai a couple of years back and found it underpowered and not enough room for luggage, so the earlier comment about the new engine is encouraging. My old x-trail used to tow cars in the snow out of hedges... not sure if the new one could. My current FL2 is soon to be changed and I've no idea what to get.

Got a 2015 1.5dCi N-Tec+ We really like it - in fact Mrs SiLH loves it. The model I have doesn't exactly tear up the tarmac with it's acceleration - everything else is great.

We had a 2007 Tekna variant with a 1.5 diesel engine. Great spec but engine was powder puff. Wife liked it and then I sold it on around 2011.

A few cars later and the wife is back with a 1.2 petrol variant of the same car from late 2014. Much better motor. Only quibble is the Tekna spec has too many electric bings and bongs!

I still dont see why this type of car is so popular, if you want some room get an estate or one of those Focus Xmax cars which will probably be more economical and more comfortable, if you want a 4x4 then get a real one but I would question why 99% of people who own one needed it, it amuses me seeing women driving these SUVs to take the kids to school. Although as mentioned they are very popular.

It's about practicality and affordability. QQ offers the balance between full scale 4x4s and normal cars. It's not too big or too small, and relatively good running costs. The high seating position is a big plus. Estate cars have a different type of room; they are more about horizontal room whereas QQ is about vertical.

If you don't get why they are popular then it's obvious you don't need that type of car. :)
