Nike Sucks?

Tiger was god awful off the tee, yet still played level par golf.

Its not like Rory ever played badly with his old Titleist setup. The Masters and St Andrews The Open anyone.

He's got about 150,000,000 reasons why he doesn't care ;)

Also, it doesn't seem to be doing Thorbjorn Olesen any harm :D

I NEVER said Rory DID or DIDNT care.................

And I NEVER mentioned T. Olesen either.............

I just know theres a lotta people, I know, and all over the world, that will take immense pleasure in the World #1 Abysmal Display today, and the Press will be rubbing their hands

Oh yeah............and NIKE SUCKS too :D

Yes, T B , Totally agree, I KNOW rory can throw in the odd stinker round

But I just know the Press will ignore this, and will jump on the 'Equipment' story lines for sure

BTW -- Tigers bogey at his last was PATHETIC, after possibly best drive of the day

Fair point.

It's Thorbjorn's first event with Nike bats too, I thought it was relevent... Apparently, it was not.

TBH -- I really RATE this fella, Ive actually bet him this week for a Top 10 finish, (but not in my GM Fantasy Golf team.!!) and I never even looked into any other changes, as Rory is gonna be the 'Headliner' they want to write about

Nike make some good gear, they have put a lot of money into developing there equipment. They are masters of advertising and PR, which is why they get the big boys in there camp. Kids will want Nike gear because the best players use it. I have tried a few Nike clubs over the years and never felt it was as good or better than what I was using or comparing it to. Callaway have always been the same for me.

Tigers irons for years were a copy of his old Mizuno blades, it was the same when he was at Titleist and then Nike. I am not sure if that is the case still. There was a rumour that the early Nike balls Tiger used were actually Pro V1s with Nike stamped on them.

NIKE Sucks ? Was the Title

No question mark needed, TODAY, for RORY
YES ............ NIKE SUCKS :D

And, Yes, I realise Rory is a bit rusty, but I KNOW which side of the story the PRESS will choose to write about............

Equipment Change, NO doubt, they will have a Field day

He had 5 missed cuts last year, the last one in November. Today's round carded two double's and a single mixed in with 13 pars and two birdies. I haven't seen it yet, but reading the report he left a couple of chips short and had a couple of wayward shots leaving too much to do - not the worst round in the world though. Too easy to blame the bats for today........

I was sponsored by them as a junior tennis player, used to make a little beer money on the side selling on surplus shoes and tennis shirts. the quality of their shoes and clothing in general has declined massively imo.

Had a pair of gofl shoes that fell apart pretty quickly, hit their irons when i got custom fitted and werent up to scratch.

generally speakiong i dislike their aggresive approach of market share in new markets eg skateboarding, golf, snowboarding, surfing etc....

I totally agree, clubs are clubs and its the donkey on the end which counts.
ive changed to the 2013 vro pro blades a few weeks back and they are just beautiful, i came from mizuno mp68's (also amazing)
but ive come to the conclusion, it really doesnt matter, its a case of just wanting a change, and the nikes are not to be sniffed at performance wise.

Although.... im yet to be convinced on the driver front, i have the covert tour on preorder but, there will always be a but to nikes drivers, but thats only in terms of feel, not general performance.

Bottom line, they arent for everyone, but they are as good as any in the right hands.

Nike drivers weren't even on my radar for when I came to change. They had a VRS Speed Trial session at St Annes Old Links at the time of The Open.
Result was, the VRS is now in my bag.

I'm guessing most of the anti-Nike brigade, has not even tried any of its clubs.

Well............I did see it
Even on the few drives that Rory looked like he ''smashed'' it............he was still way Behind Tiger

Regardless of anything else, he looks MUCH SHORTER off the tee

Just saw this on Sky too, way behind Tiger and a lot shorter than he was last season. Even when he smashed one down the middle with what looked like a good swing he was way short, he looked a little surprised himself

This isn't anything new though is it. McDowell ditched his maniufacturer for Srixon after his first major win and struggled. I thought Woods and McIlroy looked so out of sorts and can't decide if its the gear or not. McIlroy has been known to be wild of the tee (10th at Augusta) but he did seem to have some funny distances compared to others

it will be the EXACT same as the rest of us. every time we get new gear, we have a honeymoon period, then it tails away and we then have a ropey period before we learn how to get the best out of our new sticks.

Rory has also changed lofts...his driver is now 10.5 degrees (wow!). There could be a multitude of reasons for the length. Surely, if you are 5/10 yards shorter but in the middle, that's better..
