I have the AP2 710 and I couldn't justify the cost of these to maybe hit it better or not. I don't see how they could be massively different to what I'm using. Sure someone coming from another brand might be attracted but users of previous models might not feel the need to move. Serial upgraders don't count because they just want bag bling at the driving range but if you're hitting irons well, there's no point in changing unless they are really worn out.

Titleist robot testing had data for the new irons being 8.5% more forgiving than 714 AP2, which equated to around 4 yards distance gain on miss hits. Given there's been similar minimal jumps each year from 710-712-714-716, I reckon you're giving up about 10-15 yards and noticeable forgiveness. Throw in grooves six years old and you'll find more performance gains.

What it comes down to is would you pay £700-800 for those extra 10-20 yards and added forgiveness? Some will and some wont!

Very interesting. I like the way you put that down. It's a lot of money right enough.

Jake would be helpful to know what the distance gains are on the 2010 version on centre strikes. With the lofts being stronger but the launch angle being similar are we looking at say 5 yards?

I currently struggle with the gap between my 50 degree and PW but if the new 5 iron is long enough I could go hybrid then 5 - W which might actually be better in the AP1

That said I'd hope to be good enough for the AP2s and try those against the JPX 850 forged...

Great job Jake

The CB is the first non-blade I've really liked the look of.

Bugger.

It's the first set of irons that really have me interested !

Uh oh! It gets worse.

Speaking to one of our pro's tonight. Without me mentioning Titleist he said he'd hit the new MB's a few days ago and couldn't believe how easy to hit they were.

MB's are just stunning. Would love to be good enough to play with them, however, AP1s still look great!

I have 913 Driver and 3w, and a big fan of Titleist in general! Would certainly consider the AP1s!!

I can't stop looking at them and dreaming of a CB/MB combo set

Hmmm, nothing to tempt me from my 712cb/mb combo this time. 716 definitely better looking than 714, but 712s win. Especially with a cheeky lime green paint fill :p

OK, I'll come out and say it....
They're OK, they look like Titleists
The MB's look like MB's, the CB's look like CB's, the AP.....you get the drift.
Sure, there's tech in the heads to make them perform but, looks wise, at a glance I'd struggle to separate them from the previous incarnation - AP2 apart..
Nice but very Titleist......not that that's a bad thing..
Just can't get excited about clubs that look so similar to the last ones.
