I have the AP2 710 and I couldn't justify the cost of these to maybe hit it better or not. I don't see how they could be massively different to what I'm using. Sure someone coming from another brand might be attracted but users of previous models might not feel the need to move. Serial upgraders don't count because they just want bag bling at the driving range but if you're hitting irons well, there's no point in changing unless they are really worn out.
Titleist robot testing had data for the new irons being 8.5% more forgiving than 714 AP2, which equated to around 4 yards distance gain on miss hits. Given there's been similar minimal jumps each year from 710-712-714-716, I reckon you're giving up about 10-15 yards and noticeable forgiveness. Throw in grooves six years old and you'll find more performance gains.
What it comes down to is would you pay £700-800 for those extra 10-20 yards and added forgiveness? Some will and some wont!
