New Shoes

Just bought a pair of brown FJ Contours, worn them twice, very comfortable. Chose them mainly because they are proper brown leather, not white with brown bits. Will buy black pair next month.

In the 80's a friend of mine had a pair of Ducks (Dunlop???). They were like cut down wellies with spikes!!

Another friend had a pair of Stubberts a few years ago and what a mess they made of his feet! Like a doner kebab with extra chilli sauce!

Tried them on and even just standing in them was uncomfortable

So I'm in the market for some new golf shoes after my old Adidas pair are on the way out!

I'm looking at the Adidas Tour 360ATV, does anyone have any comments on them? Comfy? Waterproofing last?

Also feel free to sing the praises of other shoes, I'm still undecided on what to get.

Thanks

I have the 360ATV's and love them. Worn them all winter with no leaks. So comfy from the word go. Didn't feel like I had to break them in, whereas I did with the Footjoy Sports I had previously!

I also had a pair of Stubburts a few years ago and these were the shoes that made me stay with FJ, the actual sole split in 2 with these shoes, i found them murder to get on your feet but they were comfy and stable.

Just upgraded my old footjoy sierra treks after 7 years as they have a slight leak when gets very wet!! My new fj contour boas just like the ones in the eBay link, gave them back to the pro after 4 rounds they leaked on three of them! The other the course was frozen solid so not really wet!! Comfy as though I can't fault them for that! Which also reminds me that he hasn't come back to me after 3 weeks!! Must chase him in the morning!

Whats the fit like in these?

I am a size 11 shoe and my feet width is medium, a 45 in Ecco sizing fits me perfectly and the Biom's are so soft and comfy mind you they should be for what they cost. As I said not sure about these in wet conditions but I dont wear them in this I have a pair of Ecco Goretex for that:thup: Used to be a FJ fanboy but Ecco everytime for me now.

If you want comfort you will be hard pressed to do better than FJ Contours. Not the most stylish looking shoe on the market but mine were comfortable straight out of the box. I also have a pair of 360 ATV's in white that I bought predominantly for the summer. Also very comfy but not as good as the Contours. I went for the boa lacing ones which are really easy to use.

Puma, Puma or Puma.

Don't waste your money on anything else as no one make golf shoes like Puma. 100% waterproof, stylish and comfortable beyond any other manufacturer!

Puma, Puma or Puma, its the only way to go.

Surprised at so many people finding shoes that have at least one year's waterproof guarantee, not being waterproof!?

I have never had a leaky pair of shoes despite living in wet and windy Scotland. FJs, adidas, Nike, Puma and Etonic over the past 10 years or so have never let me down.

What on earth are people doing?

Playing about 6 rounds a week. It kills golf shoes.

Hard on shoes play a few rounds a week? Come on fellas. I wear a pair of merrels for daily wear, these have been worn nearly all day everyday for the last 18 months and they have only just started to give up. I think for the money we spend on golf shoes they should be able to withstand a few rounds a week and practice sessions.

^^^^ He wise man ^^^^^^^

Only other shoes I'd look at are those Nike Lunar Control. they do look nice and the reviews of folk on here are glowing.

I just can't get beyond the notion that FJ produce styles for old farts. Their attempts to produce more modern styles just seem contrived to me.

As for quality, waterproofing, lifespan etc.... well it seems from reading this and the many other threads on shoes that all manufacturers turn out some duff ones now and again... although Adidas do seem to be more guilty of this than most.

Think a lot of the wet feet come from water going in around the top of the shoe i always keet the reciept and if its says 1 year water proof guarantee and they don't last that long then bring them back.
