Does nobody just put on water proof socks? I'm of the opinion that no laced shoe can be 100% waterproof.

Totally agree, thats why the Nike Bandon boot excels in this situation. It has a seam-sealed zip over the lace area and fits higher over the foot/ankle than a normal golf shoe.

Ecco for me if i had to spend my own money on shoes.
I noticed the other day that the tongue in my Tour Hydromax is stitched in so no water can go though the laces. A nice touch i had not noiced before.
