OK, I have, in my bag, several ProV's of varying ages...
If I put a couple of the newest ones in, how the hell do know which incarnation I have..?
There will be subtle differences in markings but if I don't know which markings correspond to which generation I'm none the wiser.

Did they not think of using, maybe, ProV1, ProV2 etc.....?

The new ones have a grey alignment mark.

I will only experience this for real when I find one. I have more than a years worth of stock, even if I carry one losing balls like I did today. By the time I buy these, they will be on offer, before the next one comes out.

I find it interesting that titleist still make old provs for the likes of Luke Donald, and if he's happy with an old model, what difference does it make to me?

So they said on the Titleist fitting day, he is using their remaining stock and once gone he will need to use the current model.

He's now moved to the 2013 version according to his twitter feed today put it in play recently for the win in Japan.

I don't mid either way, I've bagged some of the 'old' model at £20 a dozen, so I'm a happy boy. I am pretty certain the difference between V1, V2 or V3 so it's a win-win for me

A Pro V1 is a Pro V1 to me.I still have at least 2 dozen brand new Pro V1's that are 2003 vintage (not playing from 2007-2011 helped).
I know the difference in feel between a Pro V1 and most other premium balls, but haven't noticed any difference between any version of the Pro V1,although i'm sure there will be one or two forum members playing off 20+ who will put me right on the subtle difference's between each version. ;)

Never seen why they are so special, hit a couple but found many other balls the same.

I think if I did try them I would only buy new previous seasons ones off eBay so I could pay "normal" amounts for them!

Just to add tuppence to this one, I got a dozen of the 2013 ProV1 balls yesterday and had a round with one, usually after 18 holes the "old" prov1 would definitely have had signs of use, I checked the ball afterwards and there wasn't a single mark on it. Not definitive but certainly seems the cover durability has been improved, time will tell though.

Havent tried the Prov1Xs yet but after yesterday, I did notice the prov1s were stopping quite well and chipped/pitched well with them.
I agree on the naming though as I see they had to add "2013" to the box to help differentiate them.

The new prov 1 feels firmer than the previous model. I still have one of the demo "test" balls left and so far it has been round the course 2 times. Not sure how durable they are as I normally use a new ball for each round anyway.
