New phone , where to start

I've got the 4a. Best phone I've had thus far.

Fancied the 5,g one of that but not waterproof, asking for trouble with the kids lol

I've gone for a long term game

Pixel 5 is ordered arrives in couple weeks

Turns out it's 30gb photos

Amazon do unlimited storage for photos (for up to 5 people) as part of prime (which I have)

So I've almost uploaded .. 5gb left

Wife has 35gb left

Once done I'll back up all the videos to an old school hardrive got a tb one lying about

Does anyone on here use an eSim?

My next phone has the feature but I'm not sure of the benefit?

Like for example. Say I put my number on that phone and it breaks (with kids prob will) I can't just stick my sim in another phone

Is there any useful benefits or just a random feature
