New Odyssey Flip Face putter: Innovation or Abomination?

How long until we carry just one club that can be anyone of 14 pre set clubs... Just dial in a 7 iron :D

That's been done already... somewhere.

Not sure having the putter with different inserts would really help, I'd rather be able to knock off a couple of degrees loft in the Winter, or on slow greens, than change the feel off the face.

Out of curiosity do those that see it is pointless predominantly play their home club? And would this potentially appeal more to the nomadic golfer? Or is it just a brilliant way to feed the tinkering nature of a club golfer? Currently we've got adjustability in woods, changeable faces in wedges, changeable weights in putters and now we can flip the face...

i think i see where you are going with this , regarding different type/speed of greens etc , are most of us handicap amatuers good enough to worry bout this , I try get around different courses , i practice putt before i go out & work on pace rather than holing out , if greens are slow hit it harder if greens are fast a bit easier .. played FoA last year & greens were bullet quick , so just rolled the putts easier not change putter .. proverb of bad workman blaming tools comes to mind

Agreed

I can't believe someone at Odyssey HQ gave that the go ahead and put it into production, I just can't see anyone who is serious about the game buying it.

Im also surprised Taylormade didn't think of it first!

The shape of the putter looks horrid and that would put me off before anything else. I have my trusty Ping for the majority of courses and my odyssey #9 which is better for me on ultra quick greens like Maidenhead and particularly Blackmoor

Im a little surprised at all the hate... Im not sure about the head shape but thats not what the post is about. The idea to change from a softer to harder insert i think is pretty good. Odyssey already make identical puttters in both white hot xg(soft) and white ice (harder) inserts.

Ive seen plenty of pretty good golfers switch to a different putter/harder faced when playing slower greens in winter.

Odyssey are a pretty decent company and I think with a little improvement in head shape options I would definitely take a look. In fact -

How much are they -- I want one !!!
